New annual pass and booking fastpasses

We plan to travel to WDW in October. We are thinking this time an annual pass is the way to go, as we will probably travel again in May.

What I am trying to figure out is if we order an annual pass, my understanding is we will get vouchers that we activate upon arrival. If this is the case, how do I go about booking fastpasses if the pass isn't active. Is there a way that you link your voucher to your account so you can book them?

Thanks!

I'm wondering the same thing. I received my voucher in the mail yesterday, but haven't tried to enter the numbers on My Disney Experience. I'll let you know if it works!

If I remember correctly, you will get a number code that you can add to your My Disney Experience that allows you to make FP reservations - 60 days if you are staying on property, 30 days if not. Then you have to go to the TTC to activate your FPs, so don't forget to plan for that when planning out your first day on site.

You can activate Annual Passes at any park ticket window or guest relations location.

It doesn't really matter if it is an AP or other ticket, with the confirmation #, you should be able to link it to your MDE account and it will automatically know what kind of ticket it is, and you should be good to go. You will also be able to get a free magic band with the AP, so it would be nice to get that before you go. We use MB and MDE all the time, every day. I never go to the park with out 3 FPs, and we can even get 7DMR same day! (on Memorial Day too!) I think having the FPs booked changes being an AP holder drastically. We go all the time, and we have at least 3 (sometimes more) guaranteed walk ons, people think we are a bit crazy to go as much as we go, until we explain to them that we never wait in line..

?? I don't know about that. I got my book and pass, ordered my MBs and it was shipped out. I went to a park but the next day, it was delivered. They definitely processed it prior to my going to the park. That having been said, I did get my AP at DisneyQuest (maybe that's what you meant, as in onsite?)

It was super easy and its super efficient too.
Unless they changed their system, they don't send the AP MagicBands until after you use the AP to enter a park.

It's true. They will not send your band until after you have activated your AP. (note: activated the AP - not necessarily entered a park, although most guests do that on the same day). But you will not be able to get the band until you activate the pass.

When you buy the pass at WDW as opposed to before you get there, it is activated when you purchase it. If you buy it ahead of time and outside of WDW, you must activate it at WDW before you use it to enter a park.

Myself, we always try to activate tickets before use like at an afternoon at DTD. That way, when it IS a park day, we can roll on in, no ticket window wait while the wait times increase! Plus, DTD is very fun these days. We go several times a month.

I'm considering the annual pass as well. I don't want to activate it until our first day at the park (going October and trying to fit another trip in the following August/September), so just to be clear on how the fastpasses will still work. When the AP voucher comes it will have a number to enter into MDE, but entering it into MDE does not activate the pass itself, but will allow me to do the 60 advance FP selections (we are staying on site)? So while I'll be able to make fastpass selections the August before our October trip, day 1 of the 366 for the annual pass won't begin until I activate them in the park in October...right?

You can enter a number on the AP voucher into MDE to book fastpasses. The pass is NOT considered active though until you go to a guest relations window to activate it, regardless if you made fastpasses or not.

I think you can just activate it by using it for admission at the gate. I don't think you need to go to Guest Relations. This is assuming you have the plastic ticket or have a Magicband from the account that has the AP linked on it. If you only have a paper voucher, then you would have to go to GR.

You still have to stop at a park ticket window or guest relations location to activate new annual passes. The plastic exchange certificate is not valid for park admission.

I have a question about this as well..If I purchase an annual pass online through Disney ..do I have to wait for the voucher or will they send me a voucher number so I can immediately book our fast passes?

We printed the voucher and scanned it using my iPad and MDE. Got all the passes linked up and booked fast passes since we were well within our 30 days.

My husband printed our voucher day of purchase.

That is correct! Once purchased, you can make fast passes at the appropriate 30 or 60 day window. The clock does not start ticking until the pass is physically activated at Disney whenever you finally do that in the future.
