After years of being a "DVC owner wannabe" we took the plunge this last trip June 17th. My in-laws talked us over to the sales center because they wanted the gift for going thru the presentation. We bought 100 points at Animal Kingdom with Dec use year. :goodvibes I can't beleive I waited so long to buy. I am so happy knowing I have years of Disney vacations lined up.

Now off to find me a photo for my signature.

:welcome: Home!

Enjoy planning that first trip 'home'!

and welcome home!! I am in the same boat as your are. we just bought 200pts at BLT! I am so excited and have already booked 2 trips!!:cool1::love:

We signed on june 9th. Hope you enjoy AKL!

Welcome home. When we bought AKV last year we were told we had to buy atleast 160 points. Glad we did though because the points get used fast. If the economy straightens out we will be doing add ons.

My guide said the 100 point thing was something they were trying out for the summer. I am already planning my 100 point BLT add on for next year.

Congratulations! Enjoy planning your vacations! AKV is an excellent resort.

I bought 160 points at AKV in April 2008 while staying at the All Star movies. We thought the ASM was okay, but with 3 adults and 1 child in the room, we felt a bit crowded. After touring the models, it was a slam-dunk and within a week, I was an AKV owner.

Here are a few things I have discovered so far in my membership:

Since it is only me and my currently-4-year-old son, I thought 160 points would be enough since we really only need a studio. We just stayed at SSR this past March as part of our builder incentive and were able to stay in a 1BR. It was WONDERFUL. I really appreciated having the full kitchen, rather than the pseudo-kitchenette. We can't do the dining plan until my son gets a bit older --he's not what I call "restaurant-friendly".

In researching the various vacations/cruises and resorts, I discovered that 160 points may not always be enough. I'd like to do a cruise in two years, so this past spring, I added on 50 more points.

The biggest issue with adding points is that it also increases your monthly dues. So, while I'm considering adding even more points, I'm concerned with the additional monthly cost. It's a lot to think about.

Just putting in my two cents....

Regardless, I am thrilled to be an DVC owner and do not regret my decision in any way, shape, or form.

Enjoy your ownership.....and welcome home!

We also are new AKL owners as of June 12. We were staying at AKL for 7 nights early this month, and by day 2 there, my DH wanted to buy a DVC there. Since there are only 2 of us, a studio will be great for us. We have enough points for a week at AKL and several nights at Hilton Head. We already are planning a trip at each location for next year, and we think we made a great decision to buy.

We bought a 100 point package at Kidani too. My guide says they have the 100 point packages out there but push the other ones. We live in Florida and mostly go during the week or before our cruises. We will stay in Oct for 5 nights prior to our Disney Cruise and 3 nights before our Carnival Dream cruise.

AKL/AKV is a place that's unique in all the world (Disney and otherwise ;)). It's the only resort that can be a destination unto itself for its main amenity (the savannas), its relaxing ambiance, its top-tier (on Disney property) restaurants, and its exceptional pool.

Walking into the Jambo lobby and being hit with the amazing view and the smells from Boma and the fire pit - that's my happy pill.

Enjoy!
