I keep reading about requesting a room away from the lobby. We have two special needs daughters who are both in wheelchairs. We also have a 14 month old. We will be staying at WL for the first time next month for our 17th wedding anniversary and dh's graduation gift from friends. We are so excited but have no clue about which room to request. Should we request a room or just go with whatever they give us?

Also do we need to make reservations ahead of time for Whispering Canyons Cafe? Thanks so much for any help and ideas. Ya'll are so great!

Mornin All You WL Vets, Soon to be WL Vets and Wannabee WL Vets,

Just checkin countdown clocks and hoping that those in the single digit category are getting excited beyond measure. Have safe journeys and magical visits. And please share the details when you get back.

WL has handicap equipped rooms. Did you make CRO aware of your little Angels and their needs? If not, then I suggest a call to make them aware and let them advise you.

Also three days before your check in date, fax the Room Assigner making them aware of your special needs. Having been there this month, I am confident they will bend over backwards to assist you and your family. I am posting the phone numbers for WL for you in case you do not have them.

We never needed ressies last year. I could easily say that we ate there about 3 times for dinner and 5 times for breakfast. Each time, the wait was less than 5 minutes for a table. Of course, we may have just gotten lucky too.

Cool thing was, the people at the entrance started recognizing us and calling us by our names! Can you imagine how difficult that is considering the number of people that go through that place daily? I know we were only there for 9 days but I was impressed each time. THey also took extra special care of us for the few times we took meals to go to eat in our room.

Whispering Canyon is one of the MAIN reasons we love the Lodge! The quiet pool is another. The boats and activities are anot.....well I could just keep going and going. :)

I'd make at least ONE ressie for WC, just to be on the safe side. If you like it (which I'm sure you will!) you can make other ressies when you are there....:)

ENJOY RATPACK! We will be thinking of you while you are there. Take a water mouse for a spin for me will ya? :)

What do you think are the chances of anybody sleeping tonight at the Ratpack Adobe?

Have a great one.

Oh Yeh! When these timmie thingys hit zero will we see fireworks or a band playing? LOL

...seems like AGES AGO when ya'll almost didn't go to WL and there's the "Job Situation" that had come up. See how things have a way of just working out for the BEST???!!!

ratpack,

have a great and magical time. i am so excited for you, can't stop smiling. :D

Hahaha! I agree. Last year when we went, Our flight was for like 10 or 11am and I woke up at 3am when I finally realized that I wasn't going to be able to get back to sleep. I got up and made sure that we had everything we needed. :) My wife was not too far behind me. Heh! Only one who slept was our 22 month old.

Sad thing was that our first night at the world, Julia didn't much care for the fact that she wasn't home in our bed so she freaked out and screamed and cried all night long. Around 4am, we gave up and took her out of the hotel. Got in the car and drove to Seaworld hoping the ride would put her out. She finally fell asleep about half way back from Seaworld. Getting up early that morning and not sleeping the night after was not very helpfull. :) Such is life. The rest of the trip was flawless.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

Kimmar, the job loss is still coming but I can tell you that this coming week there will be NO WORRYING about it.;) Of course when I get back, I get the joy of watching your countdown get closer to 0.:(

FloridaCat, I don't know about the rest of the family but I bet I don't sleep much. And I have ballgame tonight and I am the one driving tomorrow morning!!

Years from now, you and your daughter will look back at that story and laugh about it!! Disney conjures up the BEST memories...:D

Fred,
That brings me to a question. We are taking our DS who is 5 months. Not really worried about him sleeping in a strange place because he does it all the time. The thing is that he usually wakes up at least once a night hungry (not sure where this little guy puts it, but it will help him be a great Florida State football player). Did you notice if her crying affected the rooms next to you? Our little guy is usually quick to get quiet but I hate to bother our neighbors if he doesn't.

But, on the other hand, I am at WDW and who needs to sleep? I can do that when I get home and it allows for some uncrowded touring time of the Lodge. Great for nightime photos without a bunch of people in it.

Ratpack, from what I remember, the rooms are pretty sound-proof but you CAN hear things from out in the hall.

There were a few times where I was able to hear noises from other rooms but nothing TOO horrible. I was confident knowing that most people would not hear us.

BUT....this IS Disney World. It's not like people can't expect kids to be around and possibly have a bad night. Anyone who is a parent has the patience for those things. So, in a way, we didn't feel guilty TOO much.

I laugh about it already today! It is a memory that I will remember forever. Funny how you can take what appears to be a bad memory and make it a good one to remember. Such is life. You grow up and learn.

This year we are not expecting the problems we had last year. (I just jinxed myself didn't I????)

:)
