Spoke with my guide a few minutes ago and AK phase 2 is starting to sell.
With that, a new AK incentive was announced this past Friday:

No change to SSR:
$10. discount
plus $500. gift card for 160 pts.


AK Incentive:
$8. discount..
plus
an extra years (2008) pts.
plus
an equal/extra amt. of pts. THIS YEAR to USE @ (only) SSR (because AK isn't ready yet).

I was wondering how DVC was going to get folks to purchase points at AKV-Kidani Village when their occupancy date is perhaps almost a year away. Since you can't use your AKV-Kidani points anywhere within DVC until your occupancy date, why would anyone buy into AKV now since they can't use the points?

DVC's answer is to give them a special variation on "developer's points".

Ok I am lurking on this thread too! I posted our info on the other thread that there was $8 discount, no MF until next year and the equal/extra amt of pts at SSR or II. However, what is the other thing you mentioned.. an extra years (2008) pts? We were told a UY of June. I assumed we would get our 200 pts, the "free" 200 restricted points and no MF. I am sorry to ask so many questions. These boards never fail me though!!

Ugh, that's the way I take that too! That probably means no Kidani occupancy for at least a year, and then it will be minimal, because only that first segment will be completed. When we were there a couple weeks ago, they hadn't raised the lobby area above the foundation level yet.

The original time frame for phase 1 was "early 2009" and I wouldn't consider May 1st as "early". And we've been hearing rumors that construction is ahead of schedule and they may open some rooms earlier, maybe even by the end of this year. So this doesn't add up at all.

The first Jambo House Units had an occupancy date of September 1, 2007. A month or so later they started selling Units with occupancy dates of July 1, 2007 which is when the first rooms at Jambo House opened. I wonder if they are doing the same thing here?

Can you clarify the "extra" 2008 points. Do you get 2 sets? And then another set of matching points are good to be used only at SSR? so if you bought 200 points you would get _________?

That is the way it has been all resorts in the past....you can't charge dues on something isn't built or legally open I quess....I remember it was the same at SSR when we added on there.

Hi. Just bought into AKV- KV on Friday, so thought this might answer some questions. The incentives we got were just what was mentioned above -
$8 discount
matching VPO (developer, i guess?) pts to be used w/in 1yr at SSR or II only
UY pts in June '08, can't be used until 5/1/09 (occupancy date for unit 64A)

They just started selling Kidani units so your points are most likely in Jambo House. Check the Unit number in your paperwork. If it's Unit 56 or lower then it's Jambo House. If it's Unit 57 or higher, it's Kidani Village.

You have to check what use years they have for Kidani units. If they declared four units in Kidani, that likely means four different use years (each "unit," which is a group of rooms, has its own use year). Note what is plain is that they will give only 2009 points. They are offering June because of an expected May 1 opening (there is no May use year), and thus I doubt the ones being offered at Kidani now are Feb, Mar, or Apr because they don't want to offer 2009 points in those months if Kidani is not opening until May. I am guessing what you can possibly get is something after June if your unit is Kidani. Note, if they still have April points attached to a Jambo unit, you could buy those.

They may have some April points left in one of the units in Jambo House. You can book a stay 11 months from checkout at your home resort regardless of your Use Year. UY only really matters if you have to cancel a trip. If you think you might have to cancel trips then a UY just before your primary travel dates is helpful. You can bank your points at any time during the first 8 months of your UY so as long as your travel dates fall within that window, you will be in good shape if you have to cancel a trip.
