Spotted this & thought I post it for your information, this applies when flying from USA not sure if it applies flying out of the UK. As of January 1, 2008, airline passengers are no longer able to pack loose lithium batteries in checked luggage. The new regulation, designed to reduce the risk of lithium battery fires, will continue to allow lithium batteries in checked baggage if they are installed in electronic devices, or incarry-on baggage if stored in plastic bags. Common consumer electronics such as travel cameras, cell phones, and most laptop computers are still allowed in carry-on and checked luggage. However, the rule limits individuals to bringing only two extended-life spare rechargeable lithium batteries, such as laptop and professional audio/video/camera equipment lithiumbatteries in carry-on baggage.http://phmsa.dot.gov/

Anyone who have been recently had any problems with this?

Thats interesting to know, thanks for the information!

My camera takes lithium batteries and I'm planning on taking a spare one, just have to remember now to put the spare into my suitcase and not my hand-luggage! Oh soooo many things to remember, I can't take it all in :rotfl:

No spare batteries must go in hand luggage, the batteries can only go in checked luggage if installed in the device which they are for.

Ahhhh...I see :) That's even more useful to know :lmao:

Thanks for that!

From what I've read, my take on it that you are not permitted to travel with LOOSE Lithium batteries, that they must be in separate plastic bags or other suitable measures to prevent short circuit of the terminals.

Spare batteries are NOT permitted in checked baggage but must go in hand luggage.
