We had a very fast moving storm go through today. We missed the worst of it but had about 5 minutes of sideways rain and wicked wind. I asked DD#1 to look outside and make sure the hot tub cover was still on. It was, but then she shrieked "Mom, the Campbells tree just fell in our yard!!!
" The neighbors' tree, not a big old tree or anything, split in half and half of it is now MY tree! He's pretty mad about it because it is a really nice tree and only 12 years old, and I'm disappointed because that means no shade on the west side of our yard (the previous owners of our house never planted trees so our trees are only 6 years old). And to think I was going to put a hammock over there! We think it will have to come down because the main part is down and what's left will probably be weakened a great deal.
We are very lucky that it just blew from their yard into ours--we may have a few sections of bent fence, and she lost 3 rose of sharon bushes we think, but if the wind had been going another way it would have hit our house or hers. And for now DS age 6 has a cool fort!
