New 8/25. The trip that never was.

So KC & I left our house Friday around 9am. With a quick stop at the bagel store and Dunkin Donuts we were on the subway on the way to NYC.
We met Pants at Port Authority close to 11am. We JUST got onto the bus that takes you to the Trump Plaza Casino. If we missed it we'd have had to wait until 1pm for the next one. A bus leaves every half hour or so but most don't give cash back, Trump does. So we pay $35 to g et on the bus and get $25 back in cash when we get there- worth it!
This is what the guys did the whole ride.
We got into AC around 1:30ish. We headed right for the boardwalk and wandered our way up towards our home for the night, The Showboat. It was HOT out. By the time we got there we checked in with no problem and were off to find our room. We were in the Orleans tower room 1593.

Thats our room, the one almost all the way to the end.
The plan was to get some grub and then head to the pool for some swimming. We went downstairs and ate at the Mansion Cafe. They had a burger for $4.99 and an all day breakfast platter for $3.99. Lunch was about $18 total.
So we went up to change and realized the view from our room was of the pool and it was set up fro a private party! No swimming for me.
I really was looking fwd to it. Instead the guys went down to the beach (something we had never done before in AC) and I stayed in the room to unpack and get organized. Eventually I met them down there.
I brought the camera and took a bunch of pics since I didn't bother with my bathing suit. I don't really like the beach much. But the pics came out good!
They buried their feet in the sand up to the ankles, it was hilarious.
I ended up taking a semi long walk down to the big 99 cent store for some bottles of water and in search of a hair clip since mine had broken. I spent $8 bucks on useless stuff and went back to pick up the guys from the beach.
We all got freshened up and chilled out for a while and then headed down to dinner at the Showboat French Quarter Buffet. Man was it good!!!!!
There are different stations with different types of food- asian, seafood, meat, and there was a whole southern station! It was all soooooo yummy! Then we had desert and holy crow was it even better than dinner!! We all shared a bunch of different things. My fav, by far, was the bread pudding. it was almost as good as Ohana's!
Pants even made a Hidden Mickey for me.
After dinner we went to a bar downstairs and had a drink and relaxed and chatted.
On the way we saw this happening:
And when I looked up I saw this craziness.
We went back to the room around midnight, the guys watched "Sleep away Camp" on Pants' laptop, I read a bit and we all passed out soon thereafter.
We got up at about 8:30 the next morning, showered, packed and headed down for some Starbucks. We drank our nice cold caffeine drinks on the way to the Taj where we were meeting the first of many DISer, Janet!
Janet was stuck in some traffic so we waited happily in the shade. KC amused himself watching people not win at the carnival games by the steel pier. I had given him my camera to capture the meet when I saw Janet again, and he epically failed and didn't take any pics.
So here we are trying to reenact!
We wandered down the boardwalk after the introductions were made, chatting along. We decided to go to The Irish Pub for lunch. I LOVE this place! We had a great time.
BTW Janet I need to apologize for KC & Pants when they are together it's never good!
VERY randomly we saw a pro wrestler signing autographs on the boardwalk! He was someone I always loved so we stopped and got a pic signed and a picture taken for me. He was really cool.
Then we hit the outlet stores! while we shopped everyone else was starting to show up so we were trying to meet up with them. We stopped in Lane Bryant and I got 3 tops and a pair of sleep shorts. KC & Pants sat on a bench, they were good sports. When we were there Kelly (philadisney) came and met us! We met her and her BF Jack. Then we made our way further up the stores to find Linda (PrincessAlways) and Deb (tiggerfan4me).
I kept telling everyone to meet us at the Stewart's Stand in the outlets. KC was dying for his orange creamcicle float, he gets one every time we are there. Turns out the stand is GONE!
He was heartbroken and I had given everyone directions to a landmark that wasn't there! Oh well. On to lunch @ Applebee's. We all ate and chatted, it was really a good time. We did a bit more shopping after that....
In the Disney Store of course! I got a minnie tee and a mickey tee and a re-usable tote bag.
We took some pics outside the store before we parted ways.
Then everyone went their separate ways. I really had a great time meeting everyone and getting to know them! Hugs were had all around and KC , Pants & myself headed to the Caesar's Mall for some air conditioning ....and to wait for one more DISer.
Poor Michele (mymuse) was stuck in traffic all day, and by all day I mean she was planning on being there around 1isha and arrived at about 5pm!!
We met up in the mall, near the fountain. We saw the water show and hung out there on the steps for a while. Then we made our way through the mall and found a Crocs store (Janet- it wasn't an outlet but there was one there!). We stopped in Starbucks for a while. And we did remember to take a pic!
We headed towards Trump Plaza so we could get a greyhound back to the city and Michele went to see about finding some family of hers that were in AC also.
KC , Pants & I stopped at Auntie Anne's for some pretzel dogs and flavored lemonade and found out we'd have to go to Bally's for the next bus. So we walked there and immediately got on the line for the next bus, leaving around 7:50. We were on our way around 8pm. We got to NYC about 10:45 and after a ride on the subway were in the house about midnight. I was passed out soon after that!
It was a great time! I had a blast meeting up with everyone and spending time. I really hope we can do it again! I love the DIS boards for all the awesome friends I have made here!

I'm cheating on WDW this weekend and also heading to Great Adventure. I caught the tweet that tickets are $15 for only 2 hours this afternoon via a secret link that posted on twitter. SWEEEEET TWEEEEET!
Nice score on the tix, like I todl yuo thats the only way I'd go to 6 flags.

Wow lots of changes, I hope you still get to stay at CSR as the new rooms are gorgeous but if you do have go to a value remember you're still going to WDW
I have said countless time during the "talks" we have had about where to stay that "as long as I am in WDW I'm happy".

After much talk and fighting and discoussing things...We booked!
it is officially just KC, Myself and Pants (KC's BFF). If anyone else coems they will be staying separately so they aren't my worry anymore!
So KC's stance on things is that he just doesn't want to hear about the money parts of the trip, no numbers. I can do that! So I asked if I was good to book....
Our dates are:
Wednesday October 27th - Friday October 31st at All Star Movies, Preferred room. I'm hoping the Fantasia Building because KC loves that movie.
AND
Friday October 31st to Monday November 2nd at Animal Kingdom Lodge!!!!
We sort of split the difference in starting at a value and ending at a deluxe. I get to stay at one of my top 3 resorts and we don't spend an arm and a leg!
Needless to say I am PSYCHED!!!!
Next thing is my ADR window will open up this week! In 4 days actually.
We made some decisions.
Dinner @ The Plaza
Lunch @ Sci Fi
Dinner @ Boma
and Breakfast @ 1900 Park Fare
The rest will be counter service or F&W.
Now I have to figure out which days are which! Wish me luck!

Those short getaways sometimes are the best! Not having to deal with traffic is even better.

Great px of the AC Met and the weekend !! I stayed in AC once year ao when I did a bus trip for shopping in NYC . Didn't see much other than the hotel there !! But did get to see the Statue of Liberty from the bus . I will take you up on the Tour guide if it happens

Hi Kat!!!! It was really great to meet you & the other ladies in AC. 
Such a good time. After leaving you, Deb & I went to Bally's to use the cashback money from our bus. Guess what......I won $100!!! Now guess what I'm doing with my winnings.......you got it! A few of my DIS friends from a PA thread & I are planning a Disney trip to celebrate my __th birthday in November!

So sorry about that! It was just abnormal traffic; heavy congestion for everyone getting to their shore getaways. It finally did ease up at around Exit 44 (Exit 38 being A/C). I have to admit that I never seen it like that!

How wonderful that you get to be a part of the magic for a few more months! I would definitely want to squeeze in one trip as a CM, too!

From what I heard it's about an hour and a half or so.
Great px of the AC Met and the weekend !! I stayed in AC once year ao when I did a bus trip for shopping in NYC . Didn't see much other than the hotel there !! But did get to see the Statue of Liberty from the bus . I will take you up on the Tour guide if it happens

Never stayed at AKL. It's one of my top three dream resorts so I am really excited about it!

Don't sweat it, i felt bad you were stuck in the car for so long and we couldn't stay around longer! Free dining doesn't work for me, as a CM, which is both good and bad. lol.
