New 2018 TIcket Prices

I'm glad I finally clicked through and looked at the links. We had such a great time in November that I fully intend to go back several times at least and had gotten the general impression that costs were skyrocketing. It seems like a relatively modest increase to me--more in line with, well, just about everything else we do.

I bought three 6 day parkhoppers from AAA Friday for $1350 total. Tickets through Disney today including tax are $1533.60. Savings of $183. We are happy.

Well the 'value' of my remaining NE+ Tickets and 2 sets of AP vouchers just went up ~ 11%. So glad we stocked up on WDW tics before we retired. Now it's time to start using them!

Personally, I'd never use a NE ticket. They are too valuable - if you plan to continue to return to WDW. The ticket values will continue to rise. People really value those NE tickets - as their prices on eBay reflect. If you don't want to keep them to help with trip planning, you might be able to sell them on eBay for more than an 11% gain.

Saved $61.78 per ticket. Bought at UT because of the hoopla surrounding the increase. Thank you for the warning.

Eagerly awaiting new bridging info. We're getting down to the wire and I still haven't decided whether or not I'm going to upgrade to an AP this time.

I just bought 5 tickets from UT this morning - 4 adult 9-day park hopper plus tickets and 1 child. UT has actually lowered the price for these tickets by an additional $20 in the last 2 days; it was $528/505.90 on Friday and today it is $508/485.90. I have no idea why the price was dropped. These tickets are listed to expire on January 14, 2019 and not 12/31/18. I already have the tickets linked to my MDE account.

I just saved $309.70 over what the current WDW ticket price is :).

Have not made up my mind for certain on annual passes. Going for 7 park days in June and and undecided number of days in December. At the new Annual Pass price, not factoring in the park hopper or memory maker advantage, what would the be the number of park days we would need to visit in order for the annual pass to be the better deal?

Assuming no park hopper or memory maker, a 7-day and 5-day ticket would break even with an annual pass. Anything longer than 5 days on the second trip would make the AP the better deal.

If you are price-sensitive you take Uber for far less. It's all about the "lets take the cute car with polka dots." The service is likely popular, why not just keep raising the price?

No kidding. I take Uber round trip to the airport at home and in Orlando.

In 2000, my husband and I decided to extend our trip a couple of nights. We were low on beer, having bought it during a grocery stop on a town car ride from MCO. We figured we could get ourselves to the Crossroads shopping center, eat dinner and buy a case of beer there, then take a cab back to our resort (PO-FQ).

The taxis at the resort quoted us $20. Not worth it for the price of the beer. $20 always seemed to be the standard cab fare around the WDW resort.

As for annual passes, those guests likely aren't nearly as profitable per-day as short-stay guests. Most people I know with annual passes don't load up on merchandise every trip and pick their spots when spending on food and lodging.

Maybe not merchandise but I’d guess AP holders are probably more likely to buy those special up charge events like desert parties, DAH, and EMM. I think I’d have an easier time justifying those if I wasn’t shelling out thousands for base tickets each trip. It would be fascinating to see sliced and diced data about who is most likely to spend what.

Maybe UT lowered their prices in response to Get Away Today's prices. Yesterday, I was able to buy an adult 7 day ticket (actually a 5 day with 2 extra days park hopper) for 442 which included taxes. Today, their prices are up and an adult park hopper is 477 for the same number of days. I think that prior to Disney increasing prices, Get Away had the lowest prices for a bit and like I said UT was may be trying to compete? Something to be aware of next time, maybe some 3rd party ticket sellers will decrease their stock again right before Disney increases tickets that they sell. I guess it is a way for the UT and the like to drum up business a bit.

It is also a higher-capacity car. The price comparison to UberXL is much closer than to the Uber base service - depending on your departure and destination points, UberXL can be $20 to get from Point A to Point B. Minnie Vans also include car seats, which are an upcharge on Uber. It isn't a service that will make sense for everyone, but for a big chunk of Disney's target market the cost isn't wildly out of line either.

Are 2018 Disney gate prices higher than online? If so, can you purchase ticket online on the day you want to use it?

1. As far as I know, they still are.
2. Yes, and it will be immediately ready to use in your MDX account.

As far as Uber is concerned Lyft does everything that Uber does only Lyft is better to their employees and, from an ethical perspective, is free from many of the problems that Uber management has inflicted on it's company.

Maybe I'll put yellow stripes and some fins on my aqua colored car and call it a Flounder-mobile . . .

That Flounder-mobile is sounding attractive as well.

Does anyone know if you have an older, non expiring park ticket and you bridge it to an annual pass how that will work as far as cost savings? I'm thinking at this point it might be more valuable to save the non expiring tickets and just use them for park admissions where you weren't bridging to NEW AP's.

If they will do that particular upgrade at all, it would likely be unwise, financially, as you mentioned.

I'm on the fence right now about renewing our APs or not. We're retired and it's getting harder and harder to justify the expense. We are unable to ride most of the rides anymore so mainly just go to walk, shop or grab a bite to eat. They really need a senior plan. We currently have Platinum but if we do renew we will probably have to drop to the Gold. Does anyone know if you downgrade at renewal time do you pay the renewal price for that level or pay the full price since you are switching levels? Thanks!

Non expiring tickets showed an expiration date of 2030 in mde last november when we traveled with friends that still had one attached to mde account. Does anyone else see that?
