Never had a problem with SA Tour groups until...

I had that the last 2 times we were at Disney-- the last time it wasn't a tour it was a foreign family-- let me say that there are mayn families that come to Disney that are not from USA and are very polite and well mannered-- just like there are people from the USA that are NOT well mannered or polite--that being said we had a family that tried 2 x's in the same day to cut the line, I remember when I went in the summer when I was younger with no kids and the tour groups (I like to call them the shirts-since they all wear the same shirt) but the were so close-I could feel their sweat -that was it-I kindly told them to back up, I didn't need to feel their body on me@ anytime! Sorry for your experience--I can say you handled it much better than I would have.

I've said it once, I'll say it again. I'm totally boggled by the "me first, screw you, I'm special!" mentality that seems to have taken hold of the world. I know that there's a culture difference, and I know that Americans can be just as rude...but isn't there a bit of a recurring theme here? Obviously its WDW and it's meant to be enjoyed by people from all over, but I think putting that many kids in a new place with minimal adult supervision is asking for trouble. I also think the bulk of people that use the "no english" excuse are full of it. I don't think I'm alone in the idea that if I were going to a foreign country, that I'd make an effort to learn a few phrases and basic manners expected in said county. Someday I want to hear about a family cutting in line in front of the SA tour groups and see how fast they can speak english and complain. I'm getting concerned that it's going to take a big incident or some kind of accident, like someone being seriously hurt by a rude guest, foreign or not, for Disney to take a firmer handle on dealing with people.

We were on Rock n Roller coaster and there was a tour group a little ahead of us. There were so many that they took 3 coasters full and of course when it was out turn it was more then half filled with the tour group. They chanted the whole time we were on the coaster...BRAZIL,BRAZIL,BRAZIL over and over again. We didn't enojoy that ride one bit! They have no idea that their behavior impacts the experiences of others!

I have a friend who grew up in Brazil and the behavior of these tour groups disgust her. She says they give her home country a bad name.

They know, but they are mostly kids away from home for the first time, with little supervision, so they don't care.

Disney will never ban them, because like the Pop Warner kids, they bring in too much money.

Playing devils advocate here.....( I hate the tour groups too) But HOW do you BAN a nationality or ethnicity? seriously it would be like saying that because a few people from Brazil are a problem let us ban the whole country from coming.Or lets ban Catholics, or Asians, or people from Sweden..They can't and won't do that. The public outcry would be swift .Now I am all for ejecting the groups from the parks while the behavior is going on.Maybe after a few times of that they will understand the English better, and be on better behavior. But again I don't see that happening

Is it safe to say they usually attend the parks hosting EMH?

Our first year, we attended EMH parks and encountered these groups.

The last two years, we have avoided EMH parks and have not seen any tour groups.

I don't know if this is sound strategy, but I'm sticking to it.

P.S. I tend to agree that the lack of supervision is the problem. They are teenagers run amok. The language barrier (real or pretend) doesn't help.

i assumed they were talking about the tour groups, but then they'd have to ban them all. never would happen. never should happen.

i agree with you, though. they should eject any group breaking rules or causing over-the-top commotion. then, they'd have their money for the day, and hopefully a lesson would be learned.

Gosh I am so sorry that this happened to you and your family. They should have been removed from that ride. Glad it ended well with special time with Mand M.:wizard:

Here's how Disney can circumnavigete this problem.

Obviously they can't ban based on nationality, but they can ban groups from a particular agency. These agents who set up the group tour make loads of money from their tour groups. If Disney told the agent that groups that they send will not be allowed admission because the group leaders/agents have been irresposible, the agents leading the tours would start curbing poor behavior be their customers.

Sop, agent ABC has tour guides that allow the group to act un-civilized, while agent XYZ's tour guides but the kibosh on such behavior, agent ABC is banned and goes broke while agent XYZ gets all the customers, and keeps them in line.

Now if only we can do something about all the rude individuals, we've solved all the world's problems.

What a bitter-sweet moment!
SO happy that you were able to have the experience with MM,
but feel SO BAD about the SA tour group that ruined it.

another poster claimed that Disney should have done more to escort them out, etc. but in the whole scheme of things there couldn't have been enough time. and you did say that they were being asked to leave.
You have to remember that it was already closing time, so I'm sure the little staff that they had were all getting the remaining guests out.

I'm sure the CM was trying to stay more focused on giving your girls a magical experience with Mickey! :goodvibes

I've had the pleasure of being around the SA tour groups and Pop Warner kids, many times. We saw more bad behavior from Pop Warner. I've also seen extreme rude behavior like the OP mentions from American families.
I think everyone has the potential to be rude, no matter their nationality. Sometimes these tour group kids are so excited to be there, they just race around and don't realize what they're doing to other guests.

We had a bad experience with a "speaka no English" family as well. They sure spoke it very clearly when they cussed out my DH when he realized what was going on and stepped in and told them they were not going to get away with what they were attempting to do.

I disagree...they know what they are doing, but they just don't care.

We had some horrible experiences with these "tour groups" our last couple days of our vacation in July!
We were having a great time all week, then these groups started showing up and all H*** broke lose it seemed.
They were everywhere!!! every park, every attraction! grabbing ALL the fast passes.

We went to ride the new Toy Story Mania and the wait said 40 minutes. We had FP for TOT, so we thought 40 min is not bad. Well just as we headed up.... 3 large "blue, green and red shirt groups" pushed ahead of us! AND there were other groups at EVERY SINGLE FP kiosk getting hundreds of FPs.
It ended up being over a 90 minute wait!!!! because even with the groups that pushed ahead of us in the stand-by, there were another 2 or 3 groups that entered the FP line!!!!!!!

and we had very similar waits for the remaining 2 days! we couldn't get away from them!!!!!!!

then on our last night we wanted to see Illuminations again.
I grabbed a nice spot for us shortly after 8pm as the family rode TT. they had FP so I knew they wouldn't be long. I put my poncho down with my back pack.
no sooner did I sit down........ HUNDREDS of these Brazilian teenagers stormed the area...... all trying to take over the little spot I kept trying to tell them my family was on their way.
and no more then 10 minutes after I sat down my family showed up.
Well for the next 40 minutes it was like a fight to not get trampled on!!!
My DSIL even went to scout out a different place to sit.... but the entire park was filled with "colored shirts"!!!!

so we decided to stick it out.:headache:

Well..... they ended up ruining the entire show!!! throughout the entire Illuminations they were chanting and talking and yelling at each other!! at one point someone in the front stood up so hundreds started yelling to sit down! then when the globe was revolving.... every time SA would come around they would stand up and say some kind of cheer!!!
it was the worst time we've ever had trying to see Illuminations!!!

We were just happy that we had seen it before. and that the kids were okay with just being able to see the fireworks!

I do feel that WDW needs to somehow control the number of there tours that visit at the same time!!! I don't know how they can really do that..... but I will never go back at that time again because of these groups!!! :scared1:
