I never got my DME luggage tags.
Or am I supposed to get them at my departing airport (Newark, NJ)?

Being that we are to arrive around 145pm, and we are planning on hitting the pool right away, should I even bother with checking my bags all the way through to CBR hotel, or should I claim them at the airport and bring them to the DME pickup point? Don't the bags usually arrive later at the hotel than the guests? I need access to our swimwear and sunscreens ASAP.

You can still use the DME luggage transfer service. You will just need to stop at the DME desk and give them your claim numbers and a description of the bags so they can pull them from the carousel. If there's someone at the entrance to the Welcome Center line directing people to the bus lines, just tell them that you need to give luggage information to the CMs at the desk. Do NOT skip the desk.

Your luggage can arrive up to three hours after you check in to your resort, so you likely will not have access to what you have packed for a while. However, it's always a good idea to pack what you need for the first 12-24 hours of your stay in carry-on bags in case the airline misdirects, delays or loses your bags. In your situation I would strongly suggest putting swim suits, sunscreen (3.4 oz or less sizes) in your carry-on bags. That way, you can hit the pool AND use the DME luggage transfer service.
 
As already suggested, pack what you'll need to start your fun in carryon bags. That way, if your checked bags get misdirected by the airline, you'll still have what you need. Same goes when using DME for luggage handling. It can take up to 3 hrs after resort checkin to get the bags, so bring what you'll need in those carryon bags.

You can just go to DME checkin, give them the claim receipts and they will take care of grabbing your bags and delivering them. Or, you can just stop at baggage claim on your way to the DME area, and get the bags yourselves. Then you will have immediate access to the bags when you get to the resort since the bags will be on your bus. But remember to tip the bus driver and anyone at the resort who handles your bags for you.
Getting your bags yourselves will add about 20 mins to your total time.

Claiming your own bags at the airport is likely to delay your arrival at your resort by 30-60 minutes.

I agree that your best bet is to pack carry-ons with swimsuits, a clear 1 qt zipper bag with sunscreen in containers holding no more than 3.4 oz (100 ml), and anything else you need right away.

Let DME handle your checked bags. It's great! You don't have to be in your room when the bags are delivered.

Are you traveling in less that 3 weeks? If so, call Disney's Magical Express Guest Services at 1-866-599-0951 to confirm that you have DME reservations and to check on the status of the yellow tags. If it's more than 3 weeks, they'll probably arrive about 3 weeks before your check-in.

As Jestocost noted, you can even use DME inbound bag transfers without the yellow tags.
 

We did not reveive our tag :confused3 I had to call Disney at 1-866-599-0951. They told me that we where not in the system :surfweb: I know I booked it. So they put it in now we should have our tags 7 to 10 day. I hope they are here before we leave :eek: Give that number a call just in case they do not have you down.
