Never been to world showcase

I have been to Epcot many many times, but I have never walked the path to world showcase.
This might sound stupid but I have no real interest in seeing the "world" either in Epcot or accualy traveling. HOWEVER I am ALL about trying new foods and yes, yes, I do love to eat. My question is this: is it worth the long walk around world showcase to try the food?

I have been stalking the food thread for a month now and I have seen some stuff but what would a MUST eat?

Make the walk! Make the walk! Make the walk! Not just for the food, but for Malestorm and the American Experience! I can't even get started on the food, there's such a variety.

Oh, Dustysky, this is my favorite part of Epcot!!! The different countries are just far enough apart that you actually feel like you are in another world. I love the music in each country, just to sit and soak it all in. I love to hear the native language and accents in each country. I love the shopping and of course, the FOOD. I definitely think it is well worth the walk over the bridge, in fact that is what I live for when I am in Epcot. It is my dream to travel, esp. to Europe and this is the closest I can get right now, so I love it.
It is really your personal preference since you don't have a desire to travel but just take the walk and see what you think. You may find a new love if you are anything like me. As far as the food, again it your preference as to what type you enjoy. I love Italy, France, Morocco, United Kingdom, Japan and of course, Canada.

It is worth the long around World Showcase PERIOD!!!....ohmygosh, I cannot fathom NOT seeing this part of Epcot! However, if you really really have no interest in anything but the food, it's still worth a go. People rave about Le Cellier in Canada, the United Kingdom has enough imported cookies and treats to fill a standard grocery bag (not to mention downing a good ale in the pub), the Boulangerie bakery in France is to die for!, and the food in Germany at the Biergarten is one-of-a-kind! My DH's family has eaten in Japan and loved it. You['ve got to go at least once before you pass judgement!!

Ok, sound like I will have to try it out, I mean after those posts we all kinow that disers are ALWAYS right, this will be on my list of must do's next trip ( I hope Sept).

I don't know about always (sorry ). It is really up to you but I am glad you may go. I can't wait to hear what you think. I am really sentimental right now so I am about to shed a tear thinking about it. I really hope you like it.
I know, I really need to stop now. I am laughing/crying.

edit to add: I am not sure if you care for France or not--some Americans do not--but if you do or does not bother you, you must see the movie in the France pavillion. You sit in a theater (unlike stand as in China and Canada) and it is just lovely. The scenery and the music~~oh the music. here I go again.

Yes! Yes! Yes! My DH & I LOVE to eat! Some people "drink around the world" at World Showcase. My DH & I eat around the world. Even if you don't take the time to stop and eat at a TS restaurant, the CS is amazing as well. Here's what we usually get:

Canada ~ pretzel bread from a little stand in front (that used to sell Beaver Tails )

United Kingdom ~ fish n chips from Harry Ramsden

France ~ an elephant ear & a chocolate crossaint from Boulangerie Patisserie

Morocco ~ baklava from Tangierine Cafe

Japan ~ kaki gori from the Kaki Gori cart

USA ~ root beer float from Liberty Inn

Italy ~ italian ice from the cart by the kidcot stop

Germany ~ black forest cake from Sommerfest

China ~ vegetable lo mein & caramel ginger ice cream from Lotus Blossom Cafe

Norway ~ rice cream from Kringla Bakeri og Cafe (I could live on rice cream )

Mexico ~ mango margarita from the Margarita Stand

We usually share an order from each country between the 3 of us (DH, DD, & myself) and we space it out over most of the day. And that's just the food....there's also shopping, and usually some type of live entertainment.
And if you go during the International Food & Wine Festival, there's even more food!

Can't believe you skipped that part of EPCOT...it's the best! The food is wonderful! Are you going to be there the end of September? If so, you'll be there in time for Food & Wine Festival! Check out all the countries! Fav's of ours are: France - Chef's de France, Mexico - San Angel Inn, Italy - Alfredo de Roma, Morocco - Tangierine Cafe! I've talked my husband into trying Tepannyaki , and Le Cellier this upcoming trip! Biegarten is fun also!
There are ferry boats that go around the World Showcase lagoon, so you could take one of them to sit for a bit! Don't miss the El Rio Del Tiempo a river ride in Mexico, Maelstrom-a boat ride in Norway, the American Adventure in of course America, Oh Canada in the Canadian pavillion (be prepared to stand for that one however)! The shops are filled with goodies and crafts for that nation, along with Street Performers in the different countries! Stay for Illuminations at night, it's a beautiful lazer light and fireworks show!!!! Have a great time and post your review when you get home! I'd love to hear what you have to say!

I think that once you travel around the world its going to be one of youre favorites because every time you can try something different you are going to fall in love with the food and .

I'm sorry, you have no real interest in seeing any other place but Florida? Really? The actual world is a pretty amazing place with pretty amazing people. The "world" in Epcot actually has a few of those people from each country. If "actual" travel isn't possible, Epcot (sorry, World Showcase) is a pretty good representation, considering the CMs who each spend one year working in their respective "countries."

If it's a health or mobility issue, that would make sense -- but to merely say you have no interest in seeing the world is just....REALLY?!?!? Sorry, I can't fathom this.

I can't fathom it either, but let's be gentle. It's not what the OP asked about...it was just the reasoning as to why WS had never been visited.

OP--please go and report back! I've never been because this Dec. will be my first trip to DW, and I'd love your opinion. WS is one of the the things I look forward to most, and one of the main things that made me finally want to go to WDW (as opposed to DL, which is closer).

O.K I knew people would be freaked out (or think I am insane) for not needing or wanting to travel. Its just never been an interst for me, I have NO desire to ever be in a place that I dont know the language so another country is out of the question.

No Florida is not the only place I want to be and if it was not for Mickey I would not even be here, I would be right back in MASS where I would be very happy staying for ever

We all have different ideas of what a great vacation is. Some people like to camp and I would not be caught dead in a tent (unless it was in the middle of Main Street U.S.A ( or any other Dsiney area).

So ya I knew that my feelings of travel wouldnt be agreed upon by all , but thats ok.

Wow. Just, wow.

World Showcase is not only my favorite part of Epcot, it's my favorite part of DISNEY WORLD, period. Having an annual pass, it's like home away from home. I can't get enough of it.

Every country has something to offer. Just being in that laid-back atmosphere, and strolling around taking in the sights and sounds to me is incredible. What a great experience.

And the food. Ohhhhh the food.

Biergarten. Tangerine Cafe. Margaritas. Fish & Chips. Kakigori. Ginger Ice cream in China. Chefs De France.

There is just SO MUCH. From big delicious full dinners to quick counter service - all just so good.

And this isn't even taking INTERNATIONAL FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL into consideration.............

Amen! And, the whole tent thing, even on Disney property I hated it. But, that's just me. My DH & DD to this day say that was their favorite trip. Anyway.... have a great trip, no matter what you decide to do or not do!!

Well, I'll admit that Dh and I are in the "drink around the world" group Hee hee! Seriously though, I love tasting the different wines and Dh loves different types of beer. I usually have a Margarita in Mexico, wine in Italy, and Champagne in France. Dh likes the beer in Norway, Germany, and UK. As far as the food, I like to have an egg roll, or fried rice in China, Pretzel in Germany, and Fish and Chips in UK. I love World Showcase. You should definately do it. And take the time to really enjoy it too. If you just speed walk through it you will really miss what makes it so special. It's so cool to explore all the shops and roam around. Whenever possible I like to spend a whole day in WS!

Like England!!!! That's where I'm from - come over to London - absolutely FANTASTIC city - one of the best in the world. And it's beautiful sunshine over the next week (although I'm not proposing you come right now )

With regards to Epcot - visit the UK and the Rose and Crown pub. Really nice meal. I particularly like the Fish and Chips (i.e. thick cut fries), which you can also get to take away. Also check out the Beatles - they play live every now and again in Hyde Park.

In fact, check out all of the World Showcase - you'll have a fantastic time. So much to see and do. Give yourself at least two evenings.

it's a themepark! Just goes to show how good Disney is at making things seem realistic...that you forget where you are. DH entertains himself by talking to the castmembers from the different countries. And he enjoys the

Definitely try the food. If you don't want to walk, you could take one of the boats to the other side.
