We'd like to drive to Universal during our upcoming WDW trip. We'll be spending one day and plan on seeing HP and doing things exciting for 9 and 6 yo boys.

How are the two parks within Universal situated?

Can you walk from one to another?

For kids that age, are there any must-do's?

Can you eat at City Walk with admission to either park?

Is it worth it to buy tickets to both parks, for a one day visit?

TIA!

You might want to check out the universal area of Disboards.

The universal parks are right next door to each other, with Citywalk right in front. You don't have to pay to get into Citywalk, just the themeparks. Everything in the Universal complex is designed for you to walk to.

For a 1 day visit, I would just do Islands of Adventure, where Harry Potter is. It's a shame you can't spend more time at universal. They have great parks and resorts.

Thanks. In case you check back, how many days at Universal would you recommend? We have usually seen/done everything we wanted by day 4 at WDW.

I would do 1 full day at each park. If you can stay at Universal, they have very nice resorts. For example, the Royal Pacific has a sand beach pool.

Also, if you stay at one of their resorts, you get front-of-line access on the attractions in their parks.

You pay very little extra for extra days at Universal

Universal is self-contained - the three resorts, two parks and CityWalk are all within walking distance of each other; the entrances to the two parks are side by side - about a 5 minute walk between the two & CityWalk is right outside the entrances of both parks; you would need 1 day for each park; if you only have 1 day and want to do both parks, you should check Universal's web site and pick which rides/attractions you think your boys would like from both parks. Depending on your boys' heights, they should be able to most rides in both parks with the exception of the coasters. I would say the Studios side has bit more for kids of that age, but Harry Potter is on Islands of Advernture side.

Thanks.

I think we'll just concentrate on WDW for our upcoming trip but I'm scanning the calendar for a 3 day weekend to visit. It sounds like a good trip for a long weekend!

We were in Orlando for 7 days in October we spent two days at Universal, one day at each park. My boys absolutely loved it more than Disney, they are 9, 13, 15. They love roller coasters though so that was a huge draw for them. If you do go, do the valet parking, completely worth the extra $10.
