Netflix on Wii

I have the 1 DVD at a time $8.99 plan and I was just able to reserve the disk.

Thanks, I know DH streams videos on his laptop when he's traveling but I hadn't heard of this yet. :thumbsup2

Would the free trial include streaming capability?

We just got a Wii for Christmas. Before committing to Netflix streaming, I want to make sure it would work for us.

There are a ton of TV shows that you can stream. DH and I just starting watching Dexter season 1 (streaming through xbox360) and then they also have season 2 for streaming. Season 3 you have to get the discs through the mail.

This is probably a stupid question, but does it cost money to watch the movies? Other than the regular monthy fee to Netflix?

Yes, the free trial does include the streaming. However, streaming on the Wii won't be available until sometime this Spring, so I wouldn't start your free trial until then.

No, there is no additional charge. You can stream as much as you want!

Good. How long after we start the free trial before we get the disc? Or can we get the disc before the trial?

I got my DH a PS3 for christmas and it needs a disc as well for streaming. I signed up for the free trial on the Wednesday before Christmas. We had our first movie and the streaming disc on Saturday. Probably would have come on Friday, but that was Christmas day...so I would say, 2 days or 3 days tops.

thanks! :) we don't have netflix, not interested in receiving by mail, but would definitely give some thought to signing up for streaming. Especially for $9/month! I didn't know they had tv shows, so that makes it even more appealing!

I love using Netflix, we ditched cable TV and regular TV with converter box and amplified antennae just doesn't work in our apartment (3 channels all the same and no volume.. some local religion network). Started Netflix thru the XBOX and I don't miss TV at all!

I didn't know it will be on the Wii too, awesome!

We've been doing this for a while with the PS3 and it's an awesome easy to use feature.

now if they would just stream live uk soccer games we too coul ditch the dish!

thanks OP for the heads up!!!!

:cool1:

Thanks for posting this. We just ordered a ROKU box - good thing it has a 30 day money back guarentee :thumbsup2

Yeah!! We were just talking about getting the blu-ray player so we could do this but this is better!!!

NO, the Blu-ray player would be better than the Wii. The Wii is not HD and nor can you connect it to surround sound - a Bluray player should allow you to do both.

We got a PS3 for Christmas tied into a LCD deal at BB and have been streaming since. I like it, although the movies are not often the most current (it would be awesome if they had more movies available!) So I guess when it becomes available for the Wii, we'll request that disc as well to play on the other tv. It has some kids movies that our kids haven't seen before, so that's cool. And lots of seasons of tv....I've been trying to watch Lost to catch up b/f the season premiere (rewatch all)....but haven't been so successful yet!

One thing that is really ticking me off about Netflix is that I cannot get any of my current movies on my queue. Seriously, I have been waiting over a month and a half for a few. I know they have long waits for new releases, but it's getting ridiculous that of my top 10, I cannot get any of them. We've been longtime Netflix customers, so this is recent in the last 6 months or so.

This is awesome. I was thinking about getting the box to stream later this year and now i dont have to. Ive had netflix since 2001 and i usually have 150-200 movies in my que so i dont have to worry about new releases because they dont get the top for about 1-2yrs. The few times ive moved one to the top i never had a problem. Ive watched a few things streaming on the computer but its annoying to sit at the computer for so long.
