Netflix on Wii

We also have been very pleased with this service so far! My DS loves to go looking through his categories to find his shows and movies to watch. I have to remind him they are the little bit older movies (release dates) but for the extra features, it's awesome! :thumbsup2

I got an e-mail today that our disc is coming tomorrow!! I already enjoy the movie on my laptop, but this will be much better!!!

Got my email today that ours is arriving tomorrow!!! Can't wait as we only have 3 channels on t.v. We dropped our satellite to save $$$.

I am still waiting for my wii disc. I have signed up on there website at least 50times. I have called them I don't know how many times. They have told me that by the end of April that everyone should have there wii disc.
I got my email yesterday that my disc will finally be here today.

I love this capability. You can order the disk today and have it in the same amount of time that you have the normal disks. The movies aren't brand spanking new but they are more recent than what is shown on HBO or Showtime. You also have the option of watching Starz instantly.

I love it.

FYI: you do NOT have to have Wi-Fi as your only option. You can run an ethernet cable from your modem to the Wii as well; it does not have to be wi-fi only.

We pay the $8.99 monthly fee for netflix...Our blue ray player has a netflix symbol everytime we turn it on...Does this mean that i can stream movies through it?? Netflix online says i have to enter a code, but i dont know what code it is referring to??

Very likely--do you have a Samsung? That's what we have and we stream stuff ALL THE TIME. (If it's the same, Pandora is cool, too, and free!--like personalized radio.)

You will need to connect the player to the internet through wifi or ethernet cable. Once you do that, you should be able to click on the Netflix button and it will walk you through set-up (including giving you the code you need).

You'll also need to set up an Instant View Queue on Netflix. Just one movie (Monsters Inc.? Wall-E?) in the queue to start will make it easier to get up and going.

If you're blu-ray player is hooked up to Wi-fi and is netflix compatible, you should be able to use it for streaming. Try clicking on the netflix symbol on your blu-ray player, it should give you a code to enter online on netflix. HTH

OP Here... Been really enjoying the streaming Wii option. Being on the one disc at a time plan, this keeps us in entertainment while the disc is traveling to and from our local hub. Its also great when the selection that is at our house doesn't meet with everyone's taste. Or, in the case of ds7, may not be appropriate. Real happy with the experience. The interface is terrific, and the picture quality is good. Is it high def ? No. And as far as we're concerned that's just fine for what we're using it for. Great way to maximize entertainment value. :thumbsup2

We absolutely love it. Our only problem is if there are several of us in the house on our laptops, it will stop and retrieve several times during the movie.

There isn't a fee for the Wii to be online. The only gaming system you have to pay for online access is XBox, I believe.

Well, yes, and no.
I'd think to a certain extent you're right that as long as you can connect your wii via wifi or ethernet cable, since you are already paying for netflix on a monthly basis you won't have to pay the add'l 500 points for internet access.

And the wii will connect to the internet to do updates and will run certain programs which require internet access such as the weather and wii store for free but you must have internet access via an ISP. But to use the wii to surf the web (for doing things like visiting the DIS :rolleyes1), you have to use wii points to buy and download the internet access program just as you would any other other program via wii points. When I did it the cost was 500 points or $5 (but points are only purchaseable in 2,000 point increments). This was a one time charge.
