So, has everyone reserved their free disc yet ?

In case you have not heard, if you own a Wii and are a Netflix member of 8.99/mo or up, you will be able to stream movies via your Wii. It does require a free disc, so head to Netflix and sign up. Service starts some time this spring(2010). :3dglasses

And if you are a mypoints member, make sure you sign up through them for a free trial. Once you become a paid member you get points. It is 1000 I think. Not sure.

This was great news as we have a Netflix account (signed up through MyPoints) and a Wii. Perfect...now we wait!

They also currently stream on the PS3.

DH just requested the PS3 disc. I just found out about being able to stream it on Wii soon. Now we can stream it on PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii :lmao:

Thanks - I just requested mine. I had no idea they were offering the disc yet.

All the advertising and all the articles I've seen say you just need a plan that is $9 or higher, but when I try to reserve my disk Netflix tells me I have to be on an unlimited plan. :confused3

I've been thinking about this for awhile. How much does it cost to stream it through the PS2, XBox or Wii? Are they the same titles? Do you get current new titles or ones so old it's not worth it?

Trying to answer a few questions I have seen here... We signed up two weeks ago, and have the "8.99 1 Disc at a Time, Unlimited" plan. This is the bare minimum to request the disc for streaming.

When you go to Netflix, sign in and go to the main page. Across the top banner, click on INSTANTLY TO YOUR TV. Scroll down just a bit and you will see the NETFLIX READY DEVICES banner, which displays the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii. Click on the Wii graphic and it will take you to the sign up page.

The streaming library is pretty extensive. THAT SAID, they do not offer the brand new movies for streaming. But there is a ton of movies and TV shows available for streaming, whether you go to your laptop or use a device like a game console or Roku box to display on your TV. Movies/Shows that are available for streaming will give you the option to watch now or add to a Streaming queue. Hope this helps all of you lucky Netflix folks.

Yeah!! We were just talking about getting the blu-ray player so we could do this but this is better!!!

Us too! We have the PS3 in one room, but I usually watch TV in the other room and wanted streaming capability too. We have the Wii in my TV room so this will work out perfectly. DH can control his room and me mine ;) That will save us money from buying a blu ray player!

Man, I like netflix but I wish they would stop pushing streaming so aggressively. They don't seem to grasp that some of us just cannot get internet speed fast enough to handle it. We have slow high speed and that's all that's available here. Satellite is just way too expensive. I grow tired of seeing all these movies on my homepage that I can "play now" when I can't. I've tried and it's painful to watch. I wish there was an option to completely remove all the play instantly crud from my netflix homepage so i don't have to wade through it when I want to look for discs to rent. I understand that this is where the future is headed, but the future hasn't reached my neck of the woods. Sorry for the rant, but I would really love to stream, but just can't and it irks me no end.
