Netflix Frustration!! I dont understand!!

I don't know if this helps or not, but you can stream Netflix through TiVo and through xbox 360 if you have one of those (I think you can do it through PS3 as well, but we don't have one of those). I don't want to watch movies on my computer, but I do enjoy streaming them via Netflix through my TiVo. I love that it's included in my Netflix membership.

I have an XBOX360. I still have not "gotten online" with it though.:rolleyes1 I will look into it.

It would be nice to "rent" a movie without dealing with a disc.:thumbsup2

Here is a list of Netflix Instant Watch Devices. You will need to sign up for XBOX Live Gold ($49 per year I believe) to stream Netflix to the XBOX.

The turnover time for Netflix amazes me...is blockbuster the same? I can put a movie in the mailbox to return to netflix @2pm, and I have an e-mail at 8am the next day saying they received my return and are shipping my next movies. So, I return a movie on Monday, I have a new movie on Wednesday. Does BB do that?

Luckily for us there is a Netflix distribution center in the town right next to mine. Turn around is very fast.

For those who tout BB b/c they still have the new releases, keep in mind that probably won't last long. Now that the studios have floated the trial balloons with Netflix and Redbox, it won't be long before they force BB into the same deals.

Netflix agreed to the 28 day delay, at least partially, in exchange for the rights to provide more Warner content via streaming. At this point, since Blockbuster isn't providing the same free streaming, we won't see the same kind of agreement.

But I don't much about the Redbox agreement and I don't know if there are other ways that the studios could prevent BB from offering new releases.

I just did some reading on the Redbox and Netflix agreements.

It sounds like Netflix made the agreement in return for better financial terms (lower prices on DVD's) and more streaming content.

It sounds like Redbox made the agreement in return for lower wholesale DVD and blu-ray prices.

Blockbuster can't really be forced into any deal. They are big enough that the studios can't bully them around as easily and probably can't force distributors to stop selling to them.

If BB makes the same agreement, they would have to be getting a very large financial incentive from the studios. I've read some statements that Redbox caving in is exactly the opportunity that BB needs, to takeover the kiosk market.

This is all pretty interesting to me. For some reason, I always thought that video rental stores had to have some kind of license from the studios. But this isn't true. When the studios first convinced wholesale distributors to stop selling to Redbox, Redbox started sending people to Target and Walmart stores to buy their DVD's.

Well, I always do it through my TiVo. The xbox 360 is really DH's, so I haven't personally done it that way. TiVo is mine and xbox is his, LOL. But as FireDancer mentioned, you do need the live gold membership. But according to DH, you really need that anyway if you want to play any of the multi-player games like Halo etc. w/ other people.

Won't you be able to stream to your tv using your Wii soon also? I could swear DH requested a disc from Netflix that should be arriving this spring that will allow us to do this. I don't really care about new releases, so we'll stick with Netflix. Turn around time has been really efficient and I have more movies in my que than I'll ever be able to actually watch.
