Nervous about the Studio room at BLT for 4 people. Is it doable?? We were spoiled by a 1 BR this past summer at BLT, but don't have enough points for a 1 BR this year for how long we are staying (13 nights) because we borrowed some the year before.

I wouldn't do it. I would limit it to two. Those rooms are very small. Possibly if the second two are small kids, maybe.

I would definitely not do it for 13 nights. :scared1:

Wow, 13 nights in a BLT studio.. I couldn't do it with 4 people, especially 4 adults. It might be ok with kids. There isn't much unoccupied space, especially when the sleeper sofa is pulled out. While it is doable, I'm not sure it would be too enjoyable. Or are you the type of family that is only in the room to sleep? If you don't hang out in the room much, or if you are a family where to two goes somewhere and two go another and you are in the room in "shifts", that might be ok?
Maybe consider a split stay with another resort so you can experience BLT, but are not cramped the 13 days.

BLT studio=Squish City!

Seriously, the BLT ones seem to be the least conducive in accommodating more than 1-2 people, much less 4 (even if they're not all adult-sized). :sad1:
I stayed there last year with my adult DD for 4 nights, and we were constantly bumping into each other.
Would you be willing to alter your plans and try for another DVC resort studio? Not only would you have more room, but you'd also save some points. :thumbsup2

Good luck OP. We've done a 1 bedroom at BLT with 5 and thought that was crowded. Hopefully 2 of your people are little ones. We are staying at OKW in a couple of weeks in a studio for 13 nights and was worried that might be too small for the 2 of us.

I am of two minds on this.

I guess my first question is, why do you want to be at BLT? And are those reasons more pressing than the extra space?

As others have said, it is definitely a small space for 4 people.

BUT

...it depends entirely on what the goal of this particular vacation is. BLT is all about location, and if you are planning to be out of the room (and there is a LOT to do in that area out of your room -- at BLT and CR, at the Poly and GF, and of course the question of how much time you'll be in MK) then it doesn't matter quite as much how big your room is. I've seen many people spend a lot of points on large units but spend virtually no time in them because they are at parks all day. Even if you have a non-park day, is your family the type to be at the pool from morning til dark?

We only have one child, but two trips ago we stayed in the BLT studio for 7 nights without issue because we are good at sharing small spaces, and we had that type of vacation. And for those reasons above, we LOVED being on the monorail loop.

However, if you do like to spend a lot of time in your room -- napping, preparing a lot of meals, watching TV, or whatever else, then yes, it might not be your best bet. When we take a trip where we are planning to be more resort/less parks, we usually opt for OKW for the lounging-around space.

That said, 13 nights is a looong time (for me, anyway) to be in one place no matter how roomy it is. If I were you I'd do just a few nights in a BLT 1-bedroom, and enjoy the things to do in the monorail resorts and BLT (and do your MK time while staying there), and then follow with some nights in an OKW studio at the end of the vacation to make up the point difference. And you'd still have plenty of room in that studio. And then focus on the other parks while you're down at that end.

We stayed for two nights in 2009 with 4--me, DS21, DD16, and DD13 (they were those ages at the time). It was okay for the short term but it would be a bit tough for me to do it for 13 nights.

We did do the 1 bedroom last summer, and realized that we won't go back to studios unless it is just two of us.

If it were me, I would also look in to a split stay, maybe with one of the Epcot resorts. While it would still be a studio,it would be a bit bigger. When we did the BLT stay, we also did stays at BWV and VWL in the same trip, and you could definitely feel the difference. It wasn't much but enough to give us some breathing room.

Good luck!

It's me (17) my sister (14) and my mom and dad.

We loved BLT last year - the location, theme, fireworks lounge, pool. It was the first Disney hotel we stayed at and left wanting to return - usually we leave liking it but wanting to try another place. We do eventually want to stay at all of them though.

I suggested a split stay and my dad wasn't too sure about having them move our stuff and all. (We bring 2 laptops and they're in our carry-on when we take DME).
How do they move your stuff?

Thank you for all of the replies!!!

have stayed in a studio for three weeks without any issues ,have stayed with four in the room for a week no issues ,a one bedroom does spoil one however:banana:

13 nights in a studio, no way!! i would borrow points, or rent points, minimum 1 br, (granted for 4 I also tend to do a 2br!!), for that amount of time, having a kitchen and washer/dryer would be a priority, and two televisions!!

It is very simply to transfer your things. You contact bell services to come and get them the day of the move (or drop them off yourself--this is what we did).

They tag them and send them over at some point later. It was a very simple process.

As far as the lap tops, we had a rental car for the few days we switched resorts so we were able to keep those in that and didn't leave them with bell services. However, I was told that you can make them aware and that they have a special place to lock up those expensive items.

One things we made the mistake of doing last summer was checking out early, instead of making it a more laid back morning.

This coming summer, I am going to try and have 2 nights at BWV before heading to BLT What we are going to do is do some night EMH the night before our move day. Then we will sleep in, check out at 11:00 am and head to DTD for some shopping and lunch. This way, it will kill time and by the time we get to BLT, it will be early afternoon and hope to find our room ready!

If not, we will hang out until it is.

Good luck!

It will be a nightmare for your family to spend 13 nights in a BLT studio. If someone hasn't killed another member of the family during that time, you will be extremely lucky. You will be so unhappy. Better to go for fewer nights and stay in a one bedroom. Or get a studio at OKW or one bedroom at OKW.

When the sleeper sofa is open, there is no room in the studio. There is no room between the bed and sleeper sofa. Nor the sleeper and the window. You'll never find the space to work on two laptops.

Oh, no. No way. Not for 3 nights, let alone 13. I bought DVC so I don't have to deal with overcrowded hotel rooms.

Seriously - rent points, look for a transfer, buy a few points from DVC for one time use, or just borrow points from next year. Do a cash reservation at another resort for the nights you don't have points to cover. Or shorten your trip.

Should you decide to do a split stay, and you don't want Disney to transfer your luggage, and you don't have a car, you can just take a cab over to the other resort with your luggage.

I wouldn't recommend it. My parents stayed in a studio this past August and found it very small and cramped. (My mom actually commented that the value and moderate hotel rooms seemed more spacious.) They spent almost all of our "relaxing time" in our 2BR unit with us. (Since your family has expereinced the 1BR, it would be a shock to drop down to the studio.)

Well my dad said we'll look at our options because we definitely want to enjoy ourselves!!
SO, my question now is what are our options? Should we split between BLT and OKW?

As long as you stay in a BLT one bedroom and not a studio. OKW is very quiet and the villas are the largest of all the DVC villas. You will get spoiled very quickly. If you do split between OKW and BLT, do BLT first. Otherwise, you may get very upset with the tiny room at BLT.

Is the difference between OKW and BLT really that noticeable? We found the space in a 2BR at BLT to be more than adequate. (Our house is open concept and large, so we tend to notice cramped spaces.)

OP, sorry for kind of veering off topic.

Good advice. You can go, go, go for the first part of your trip when you have the better location, and then relax and enjoy OKW when you're there. The studios there are very large and the resort is beautiful and laid back. Oh, and when we went in Oct., we did a split stay. They tagged out bags, which included my husband's briefcase with laptop. We just called from our new room and they brought it right up. Very easy and we didn't have any problems.:goodvibesLet us know what your family decides to do.
