Nervous about Pop...

I meant when you take away the fancy dressing and theming, they are all essentially the same experience when you stay there. I've stayed at all of them, except AS Sports. My opinion is based on numerous value stays going back to 1998.

Yeah, it's hard to argue with how you feel. I feel differently. I do get what you are saying though. A lot of the basics are similar. (Room size, building construction, layout, amenities, etc...)

I think there are things that make each of three, All Stars, POP, and AoA very different from one another.

We've stayed at Pop and AS Music, but Pop is our fav value. The values fit our needs currently. After years of cramming everyone in one deluxe room, our family is now spread out in two value rooms (more beds, more space, and two bathrooms) for less or equal money. We've had good experiences so far and no one is missing the deluxes. We still take our mid-afternoon breaks for swims or naps. :) We also like the larger food court with plenty of seating. Bus service seems to be best of everywhere we stayed.

I agree with the previous comment that noise depends on the neighbors and less the resort, at least in our experience. That said, I haven't experienced a large youth group at the values either (but plenty in the parks). In our case, I'm really glad we gave the values a chance because we've been happy with them.

I enjoy POP when it comes to the value resorts. I prefer the 90s section as you can quickly cut through the parking lot to get to the bus stop and of course the buses only stop at POP and no other value resorts. The updated rooms are super nice now as well. I found the 90s pool to also be relaxing and quite large and the fact that AoA is just a quick walk over the bridge to that amazing food court is icing on the cake. Can’t wait to be back in a few months.

I’ve never heard my neighbors pee in a mod or deluxe.

Help me decipher your response. So you have in a value?

I've never heard a neighbor pee at WDW resorts. I've stayed value, mod, and deluxe. Granted, I've only spent 15 days at the POP "value" resorts so far, but I I've never heard anyone peeing. Sorry for your luck.

Sure have. Every value stay, every time I’ve been in the room. Most recent stay at Pop in a refurbed room, two Pop stays before that and one stay at ASSp.

"Every value stay, every time I’ve been in the room"

Interesting. So every time you've been in a value room some neighbor is peeing. Sorry, I don't have bionic ears but I do have good ears and I haven't noticed it.

We stay at Pop a lot. When I go to the washroom early in the morning and all is quiet, I will hear my neighbour pee and flush the toilet. I don’t notice it at other times of the day because the tv is on or my family is up and talking, getting ready etc.....but we keep the washroom door closed when we aren’t using it so we don’t hear the sound of toilets flushing in neighbouring rooms.

That's a good idea, keeping the door closed. I will have to remember that for our upcoming stay. I HAVE heard toilets flushing, especially in the morning when our neighbors are all getting ready to head out the parks, but also late at night once in a while too.

I checked in at Pop today. This is my first stay. I realize why people have different views about this resort.
You really need to be prepared for what this resort has to offer (or not has to offer) to be able to appreciate the beauty of this place.
It is like driving a Hyundai or a BMW. One is just simple and the other one has bells and whistles that make you feel “better.”

I am the Disney planner in my house and I know exactly what Pop is.
When I checked in, it is what I have expected, with some hit or miss.
But I do like the refurbished room.

However, I really didn’t tell my DH what Pop is. I only told him the cost since he is footing the bill.
When he got here, he was in shock... He really does not like Pop.
He dislikes the motel style with the outdoor corridor.
He dislikes the limited space in the room.
He dislikes the food court.
He dislikes the limited seating in the room......
He dislikes the hardwood floor.

You see, to me, none of his “dislikes” are problems to me because I expected the place to be like that.

We just got here around 4pm today. So far I have not seen any 15’s.
The food court is just like a food court with people.

In two days, we will check into Grand Floridian club level room in the main building for the rest of our trip.
It is going to be an interesting trip!

Agree 100% yaya74, and I would extend your sentiments even further. Managing expectations would solve all sorts of the complaints that we see on these boards...

Parks are soooooo busy!!! I thought this was supposed to be a slow time of year!
It's too hot!
Why are there such long lines for everything!!!
The food is soooo expensive
Why can't my 3 year old go all day in the parks without a meltdown?
....
:)

$600 is a lot of money. But in the scheme of things, if you are unhappy with your resort it will affect your whole trip. If I was at a resort I hated, $600 wouldn't end up seeming like much. Just something to consider.

I have never stayed at a Disney resort that I hated, or even disliked. There are some I like more than others, but my favorites run the gamut from DVC to values. I think the key is having realistic expectations no matter what the resort level. Anyone who goes to a value expecting balconies and hot tubs is going to be disappointed. I advise anyone who is planning a trip to make a list of the hotel amenities you must have in order to enjoy your trip, and then pick from the resorts that meet those needs.

I’m reading through this thread and I just had to laugh when I saw the posts about hearing your neighbor’s bathroom habits. We stayed at POP earlier this year for a few nights before transferring to a different resort. We had a brand new (not yet stayed in since the refurb) room. Our outlets were even covered in saw dust and several items still had tags on them. I liked it enough and thought it was fine for our needs at the time. We stayed in the 60s and I really enjoyed the mid-century modern decor in the refurbed rooms. As soon as I mentioned staying there at Christmas, my husband said, “Oh no, can we stay somewhere else?” “I kept hearing the neighbors doing everything in there..including their bathroom habits.” I laughed. I didn’t even really notice.
