Nervous about CSR

Ok after much research and stressing, I finally decided to stay at CSR and booked my rooms (we have 2). Then I have been reading the "worst resort" thread and there have been some VERY negative comments about CSR and now I'm worried :worried:

Please calm my fears :scared:

Well from my personal experience I can only tell you that we really enjoyed our stay there. We normally stay at a deluxe, but last summer, just me and my daughters stayed at CSR. They LOVED it. I really liked it too. None of the other mods ever appealed to me, but CSR did and I am glad to have tried it. My kids would pick that over the Poly any time!

You will read plenty of negatives on each and every resort. Just go with an open mind and you will be fine. I found the bus service excellent (better than most) and we really enjoyed the Pepper Market. The kids thought the pool was awesome. We rented surrey bikes and rode around the resort.

Just think of it this way, if everyone liked the same resort, there would never be any availability.

Enjoy.

The CSR is a very beautiful resort. It has a big convention center, so you may see a few more businessmen then you will at the other moderate resorts. The pool area is a lot of fun, too.

I've stayed at all of the moderates, and the CSR is my least favorite for two reasons that are relatively minor details for most people. Number one, I don't like the way they run the food court--you are seated at a table, you get your food, but you don't have to clean up after yourself. For this service, they tack 10% onto your bill. I don't think that service is worth an extra 10%. Number two, I find that the walls are thinner at the CSR (as they seem to be at most of the newer resorts). I could hear my neighbors talking at a moderate level, and the footsteps of the feet of the people above me.

For every negative review, you can probably find just as many positive reviews. Everyone has different tastes and opinions on things. So, something you may think is great, someone else might not like. Unless you only hear bad things about something, I would wait and make my own judgment :)

I must be the ONLY person who doesn't care about the 10% charge at the Pepper Market. I like being seated as opposed to hunting for a table. I like having my drink brought to me as opposed to having to wait around a crowded beverage area and the REAL silverware and cloth napkin already at the table. I like being able to get my food and sit-down and eat it, without having to wait in line to pay with a tray in my hand. At the end of the meal, you leave your garbage on the table and pay as you exit.

The pool is amazing (so is the hot tub) and the whole place is just beautiful.

You're not the only one that doesn't mind the 10% charge, susy. We loved Pepper Market, and for us, the 10% was a small price to pay for the convenience.

Mercy, I was a little worried about CSR before our stay there in 2002, but we absolutely loved it! We kind of "ended up" there...needed a mod, one part of PO was closed, the other side was fully booked, and we had tried CBR and didn't care for it. So we gave CSR a shot, and what a pleasant surprise!! The grounds are beautiful, the in-room coffee pot was a nice plus, and the pool area was fantastic.

Then I have been reading the "worst resort" thread and there have been some VERY negative comments about CSR and now I'm worried
There are always guests that leave negative comments about every resort. One guest said it was dirty. Look at the pics on my website, does that look dirty to you. Nothing said was specific.

How could you be nervous about a resort that offers terrific transportation (not shared with another resort), the best pool of all the moderates and/or deluxes, largest hot tub on WDW property, a great food area in the Pepper Market (I also don't care about the 10%), beautiful landscaping, fountains and courtyard. The rooms have central air (no noisy wall units), coffeemakers, hair dryers, irons and ironing boards. Check out pics and info on my website below

We, too, love the CSR. The whole resort is absolutely beautiful!! The pool area and slide are great. Rent a surrey bike in the late evening and ride around to the different areas and look at all the lights sparkle off the lake!! We don't care about the 10% they add at the Pepper Market, the variety and quality of the food there, for us, is really something we enjoy. Like other posters said, you will get negative about every resort at Disney. Can't wait to check in!!!!

Buzz2001... I know you are a strong advocate for CSR and your website (which is great BTW) was highly responsible for us choosing CSR, but when you read things like...
The Coronado Springs ! It is refered to at our house and at my job as "The House of the Devil"
well I get a little scared :scared1: That's a pretty strong statement!

This will be my first time staying at an "official" disney resort (stayed at the Dolphin and loved that!) so I want it to be nice!

I really really like Coronado! It is my fav moderate that I have been to so far.

I like how you can pick and choose what you want to eat instead of just one station like at the Caribbean.

I like the layout, it is large but hay I like the nice walks and it gives me a little more exercise in. It is also nice to take a quiet walk with dh or dw at night.

The pool is awesome!

I wouldn't worry a bit. Go and have fun!! ::yes::

Nothing to get nervous about...You're in Disney!! We stayed there last year and I thought that this resort is beautiful. We very much enjoyed our time here and yes, I would stay here again. Have fun and don't worry too much! :)

Mercy - you'll find many more that love any of the WDW resorts than actually hate them but the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Guests that enjoy their stay tend not to say as much as a guest who had a bad experience.

For a guest to make a blanket statement like "The House of the Devil" and then not back it up holds no water with me. Why because they didn't get the room or section they wanted or they didn't like paying 10%? That wouldn't ruin a trip for me and I wouldn't put much stock in a statement like that.

I've heard guests say they don't like CSR because it is too large, too spread out, my cell phone didn't work, a bird stole my lunch. These things could happen at any resort but if it makes them feel good to bash CSR, go for it. That's why I never argue with them. I can only share my experiences. My cell phone worked perfect from all over the resort because we called family from the pool, the room, the main building. I've had birds wait for us to drop or throw something in their direction at the pool but never had any fly up and take it from us. Walking doesn't bother or ruin a trip for us. But I just try to state the positive and let others make up their own mind.

I've never experience more noise at CSR than any other resort because of wall thickness but I will definitely pay more attention to that on my next trip in 43 days.

I hope you enjoy your stay and have a great trip!

We loved our stay at the CSR. We went at the busiest time of year dec 19- jan 3. We hit the crowds for christmas and new years yet the CSr never felt crowded. The busses we the best we have ever seen. We stayed at the Wl and felt the busses ran very slow and you shared with all the other resorts. The pepper market was never boring and we loved the wait staff. I am a huge Csr fan and recomend it to everyone who will stand still long enough for me to tell them.:moped:

Mercy,

There's nothing to worry about. Like Buzz I'm an advocate for CSR, we both help run the Coronado Springs FAQ Thread, the link is at the bottom of my signature, please feel free to check it out.

Yes, Coronado is a convention hotel, but I can tell you in the stays I've had at CSR, and I believe this one coming up in 9 days will be my 7th, I have never been bothered by business people. Actually, it makes the pool seem less crowded because the business people rarely go there. The Pepper Market, if you dislike the idea of the 10% charge, do take out and it isn't applied to your bill. There are tables outside by the lake that are great to sit by.

As far as the resort being too spread out, the walk from the Dig Site to the Casitas, or El Centro to the Ranchos etc... is not that far and its such a beautiful resort that why should it matter? Plus upon checking in the bellmen will take you in a golf cart right up to your room, so no walking involved. I've even found that you can hitch a ride with them if they have an empty cart and are headed back to El Centro.

Along with the bad reviews seen on this board, there are good reviews. Many people consider CSR to be a moderate with a deluxe feel. The landscaping is breathtaking, the rooms are great, all of the sections are beautifully themed. My personal preference is the Casitas, and that is the "business/ convention" section, and still I rarely ever see business people and they certainly dont bother us.

The pool is to die for. I personally think it is the best on property. Yes, even better than Stormalong Bay, which I had the opportunity to swim at this past summer when we stayed at the Yacht Club and I just didn't like it.

Trust me Mercy, I know you'll enjoy your stay, small and minor negatives can happen at any resort. Heck last year at Coronado I slipped and fell down a wheel chair ramp when it was raining, but I dont refer to Coronado as the "house of the Devil". And for the record, my family HATED CSR on our first stay, but we gave it a go a 2nd time and fell in love. It all depends on the circumstances of your trip. For instance, our first trip there it was rainy, cold, my dad's back was out, not many positives all the way around.

So give CSR a chance, and remember that there are likely more good reviews than bad out there, when reading a thread about the "worst resort" you have to expect to find BAD reviews, but if you look at the FAQ thread you will find lots of GOOD review :)

I hope you enjoy your trip, I know i can't wait for mine!!

CSR in 9 days!!!! woohoo

We also loved CSR. It has the most deluxe feel of any of the Disney moderates and a great pool, although Buzz did go a bit overboard saying it's the best one. It's the best of the moderates, but Storm-a-long-Bay is better and has a lot more hot tub space in its four or five than in the one big one at CSR.

My only caution about it is that it is really big. If you need the food court, request a room that's a reasonable walk away. We were pretty far out, but we eat breakfast in the room, lunch at parks and dinner at Epcot or a resort, so the location was fine with us since it was near a bus stop.

largest outdoor hot tub on WDW property, which accommodates approximately 22 people
Tar Heel, I didn't make it up, its a well know fact CSR has the largest outdoor hot tub on WDW property. This info is from Deb Wills site as well as other sources.

scroll down to "What about the resort's pools?"

As far as the pool goes, its all subjective and I'll stick with my vote for the Dig Site over all others.

Doesn't bother me either. I like that I don't have to hunt for a table, that I can eat my meal before it gets cold (instead of having to wait for a cashier to pay) and that I have some measure of control in how my food is prepared. If they didn't automatically add 10% I would probably end up tipping more than that anyway. To me it is a bargain.

I really don't understand how people keep saying how "spread out" the resort is. CBR and POR are also extremely large resorts. I'd stayed at both prior to CSR and had long walks to the food courts. When I first arrived at Coronado I was shocked at how much smaller it was in comparison to Caribbean Beach and Riverside. In fact I visited CBR on my last trip and had forgotten how big CBR actually was.

When it comes down to it, if you are staying at a moderate then you must be prepared to do some walking.

Both rooms I had at CSR were immaculate and I didn't find it noisy. I think it entirely depends on your neighbors. I stayed at the Contemporary and we could hear our neighbors next door. On the other hand I stayed at AKL and the room was filthy. All resorts can have problems.

Basically if you look for something negative you are bound to find it. If the room is not up to standards, then call housekeeping or speak to a manager.

We loved this resort. It was beautiful, quiet, and clean! We will definitely stay here again.

Buzz, I didn't say CSR's hot tub wasn't the biggest -- I know it is. I said that Storm-a-Long Bay has a lot more hot tub space b/c there are several. None of them individually is as big as CSR's.

I like CSR's pool, but it's not the best at Disney. I do think it's better than some of the deluxe ones, but it's not on the same level as Storm-a-Long.

:D

Don't worry, you'll love the resort. Before I stayed there in 2002, I heard some negative things about the resort, too, but I left it up to myself to make an assumption. I loved the resort, inside and out. The overall look is beautiful, but I stayed in the Ranchos section and thought that was the best section of he three. I wasn't very fond of the Pepper Market, but I only had two or three meals there, so it wasn't a big deal to me. As for the main pool area, I think you'll like it a lot. The water slide is fun, and the pyramid overlooking the pool is a pretty cool sight to see. Have a grea time and don't worry what others have to say. Besides, you're in WDW, so you have to have a great time.

I haven't stayed there, yet. But it looks beautiful and I plan to stay there in the future. (Actually I plan to stay at all of them in the future-LOL)

Anyway, I'm sure you will have a great time.
After all, you're going to be in DISNEYWORLD, for heavens sake!!
