Nervous about CSR

We stayed at CSR last October and loved it. However, I did have some problems:

- IMO, we should've eaten at the Pepper Market MORE. We had two or three breakfasts there, no lunches, and only one dinner (admittedly, our dinners WERE at some great places). I thoroughly enjoyed the variety and the layout. The 10% was nothing, and the service was good. The servers were swarming. I could hardly get thru to fill up my refillable mug (more on that later).

- We should've spent more time at the pool. It, along with the Dig Site, RAWKS! The kids were in heaven. Unfortunately, we were too busy running around parks to take full advantage of the pool.

- I should've waited for a room in the Cabanas section. I faxed a room request a few days before we left, and they honored it. We had a room in Cabanas 9B, but it wouldn't be ready for several hours (we arrived in the a.m.). They had a room ready in Ranchos, and on the map it looked pretty close to everything, but on the ground it can get to be a hike. Especially if you get...

- ...the 64oz refillable mug! That sucker got HEAVY on the walk back to the room.

If you have access to a car, I also recommend driving to some parks and/or resorts you visit. The bus service was fine, but you could throw a rock and hit Blizzard Beach (a must-do park for us now), Animal Kingdom is just down the road as is AKL, and EPCOT is not far, either.

I agree - I think you will really like CSR. If you lurk around this Resort board long enough, you will read posts like "HATED _(fill in the blank resort), will NEVER be back" for literally every single onsite property (and many offsite properties as well!). When it comes down to justifying a lot of those complaining posts, a lot of the problems the posters have are things like "a CM was rude to me," and "I requested -_X-_ room and did not get it" or "there was a very loud family next door to me and I couldn't sleep." Things like that, which can happen in any hotel, at any price level, on or off Disney property. I take those complaints with a grain of salt when determining whether to stay at a particular resort. Also, I believe that everything is relative based on your expectations and attitude. If you go to a resort looking for every little thing that may be wrong with the place, you are probably going to have a bad experience. If you go into the trip thinking, "we are on vacation, we are at Disney, thrilled to be here and of course we are going to have fun" I find that you will have a good experience regardless of what little things come up.

As others have said, the CSR pool is gorgeous - one of the very best anywhere, and it is rarely crowded. The resort is very pretty. I would say definitely try to rent a car and drive to the resorts because I think that the bus service at ALL of the moderates is annoying because of the problem with having to sit there while the bus makes numerous stops within the resort. That can easily add 15 minutes each way to every trip.

Don't sweat what you read here too much. It is correct that people are more likely to post bad experiences than great ones. You will like CSR - it is a great value. I would rather pay $129 (or similar) there than $300 per night at the Poly or other deluxe resorts.

I love CSR! We have stayed there twice. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is amazing. I have stayed in the cabanas and ranchos section. I like the cabanas section better. It was closer to everything and I liked the beach theme. I did not mind the 10% charge at the Peppermarket. The server filled our cups for us several times. It was much easier to have someone do it for you rather than balance your tray while trying t fill up your cup. I don't see why so many people have a problem paying the 10%. It is not that much money.

Buzz I live in Bristol too!

I will be staying at CSR next month & am very excited!! My kids will get to compare the Dig Site to Storm-a-Long Bay. ;) (We did not get a chance to use the pool last time we stayed at CSR, as we were there only one day)

The selection at the Pepper Market is wonderful - something for everyone!

BTW - one other thing that CSR has, that no other mod has, is High Speed Internet access, as well as Wi-Fi. Besides all the other wonderful things, this was actually one of my deciding factors.

And we have now stayed at 3 different deluxes and would return to CSR in a heartbeat.

We were blessed with an unexpected and unrequested upgrade to a Casitas waterview on our first visit and were hooked.

Definitely worth every penny as a moderate.

Reading all the positive reviews here is making me want to change my reservation!! I've stayed there and I can stay there again!

CSR is a very nice resort. Relax, enjoy, and please don't be nervous.:earsboy:

And they even have an alligator! WHile we've never been able to see him, a nice man showed me a digital phot of him taken early in the morning. He is small enough that they leave him alone... In any case, seeing a gator would THRILL my little Midwestern kids...

We loved this resort. Soooo pretty at night and the gift shop is the BEST... My daughter always wants to shop for the little Mexican birds they sell, no matter WHERE we stay... Have fun!

We loved it last year. This year my ds 5 yo wanted to go back over to CSR to the pool after one afternoon at the POFQ pool. The only reason we didn't go back there this year is that we liked the idea of staying at a resort (POFQ) that was very recently refurbished.
We will definitely be looking for deals for CSR for our next trip.

We stayed at CSR over Christmas and LOVED it! I was a little worried too because of all the negative posts. Buzz's website is what actually helped us to decide on CSR in the first place. I honestly can't think of one negative thing to say about this resort. In fact, for our upcoming trip next month we were first booked at Contemporary then we switched to CSR. We are really looking forward to going back. We'll be there June 27 til July 5th.
I can't wait!

CSR is our favorite moderate resort. We would stay there if we didn't own DVC. I loved the Casitas. And there was so much space for me and my husband to go running in the AM. The pool is fantastic. Plus it is close to BB, so you can walk over ( a bit of a walk, but very possible and there are sidewalks).

The buffet breakfast at the Maya Grill was excellent.

I will be at CSR for the first time very soon. I know it will be great! As long as my family is together in Disney, that is all that matters to me. Besides if something is that wrong, I'll just ask to be moved to another resort. ::yes::

Thanks guys!!! You all have really calmed my fears! I'm really excited about staying at CSR.

Our trip is planned for August, my mom is real sick so the whole trip is really up in the air according to how she is doing come August. Please say a prayer that mom is ok and we get to go. I've been planning this trip for a while and I really need a vacation!

Stayed at CSR April 16-21 & loved it. The landscaping, buildings, fountains, walkways, etc. are beautiful. We've stayed at several deluxe & 2 other moderates & I'll say CSR is right at the top of the list. As others have said, I don't think you'll find a resort (or restaurant) on these boards that someone hasn't been happy with. Relax & have a great vacation!

Thanks Buzz! I am sure we will have a great trip.:)

Mercy- Your Mom is in my prayers. I hope you all have a blessed time together!:wave2:

Check my sigs. That should speak for itself. I would stay at the CSR this August, but DH and I promised ourselves that we would stay in all of the Disney property resorts at least once. I personally want to go home to the CSR. We absolutely love this resort. It's not dirty, in fact last summer they were redoing most of the rooms with new carpet, paint and just sprucing the place up even more. Don't be afraid. There are probably places on Disney that we will stay and will not like but other people love. Go experience it for yourself, then form an opinon. Just take the good with the bad and go in with an open mind. The CSR is truley a wonderful resort. It's our favorite!
