Mercy,
There's nothing to worry about. Like Buzz I'm an advocate for CSR, we both help run the Coronado Springs FAQ Thread, the link is at the bottom of my signature, please feel free to check it out.
Yes, Coronado is a convention hotel, but I can tell you in the stays I've had at CSR, and I believe this one coming up in 9 days will be my 7th, I have never been bothered by business people. Actually, it makes the pool seem less crowded because the business people rarely go there. The Pepper Market, if you dislike the idea of the 10% charge, do take out and it isn't applied to your bill. There are tables outside by the lake that are great to sit by.
As far as the resort being too spread out, the walk from the Dig Site to the Casitas, or El Centro to the Ranchos etc... is not that far and its such a beautiful resort that why should it matter? Plus upon checking in the bellmen will take you in a golf cart right up to your room, so no walking involved. I've even found that you can hitch a ride with them if they have an empty cart and are headed back to El Centro.
Along with the bad reviews seen on this board, there are good reviews. Many people consider CSR to be a moderate with a deluxe feel. The landscaping is breathtaking, the rooms are great, all of the sections are beautifully themed. My personal preference is the Casitas, and that is the "business/ convention" section, and still I rarely ever see business people and they certainly dont bother us.
The pool is to die for. I personally think it is the best on property. Yes, even better than Stormalong Bay, which I had the opportunity to swim at this past summer when we stayed at the Yacht Club and I just didn't like it.
Trust me Mercy, I know you'll enjoy your stay, small and minor negatives can happen at any resort. Heck last year at Coronado I slipped and fell down a wheel chair ramp when it was raining, but I dont refer to Coronado as the "house of the Devil". And for the record, my family HATED CSR on our first stay, but we gave it a go a 2nd time and fell in love. It all depends on the circumstances of your trip. For instance, our first trip there it was rainy, cold, my dad's back was out, not many positives all the way around.
So give CSR a chance, and remember that there are likely more good reviews than bad out there, when reading a thread about the "worst resort" you have to expect to find BAD reviews, but if you look at the FAQ thread you will find lots of GOOD review
I hope you enjoy your trip, I know i can't wait for mine!!
CSR in 9 days!!!! woohoo
