I tripped 3 weeks ago today on my left foot. I went to the immediate care center, not the ER, to have it looked it. It was the weekend. Xrays said it wasn't broken. I had crutches and an ace bandge to wrap it in. It continued to hurt and I couldn't walk on it, so I made an appt. with an orthopedic who specializes in feet.
I went this morning and had it re Xrayed. Good news is, its NOT broken. I have a 3rd degree sprain to my mid foot. Bad news is..I have severe nerve damage. I have a walking boot/cast on my foot now. It looks like a very hideous snowboot. It weighs about 10 lbs., so I am now hobbling worse than before. I also have a lidoderm patch to put on it for 12 hours of the day and need to take neurontin 100 mg for the first week, 200 mg for the 2nd and 300 mg starting the 3rd week. I go back in 2 weeks to see if it helps. He said there is a big chance I'll have to have surgery on it.
Has anyone experienced nerve damage with a sprained foot??? I can't find anything on the internet about it. I am soooo scared right now.
