My DD princess: is 5 and scared of Santa, the Eater Bunny and Chuckie (Chuckie Cheese) so we are not sure how she will react at Disney next month. One of her little school mates just left for Disny and was talking about her abutograph book. My DD decided that she would like one too.

I really don't want to spend a ton of money on one, and I haven't had the chance to price them at Disney yet. I was thinking something homemade and having it bound at Kinkos. Any ideas on the book and how to go about breaking her fear of characters would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Sandy

Go to the Creative DISigns and do a search. They have great ideas and lots of pages already made for you to print and go bound at Kinko's. That is what most people do. It makes it extra special for the kids and the characters love it.

For DS6 I bought a 6x8 spiral book from Michael's. Then got character stickers and coordinating paper and made each character that I thought we would see their own page. The book turned out so cute. Precious1971 is right - the characters really go nuts for the homemade autograph books.

I am so sorry, I don't mean to hyjack your thread! But I was going to post a question about this, too!

Do you pre-make a page for each character to sign? Is there a list somewhere of all of the characters you can see or do you just put the main ones in there and some blank pages?

I pre-made pages for all the characters that we had seen out on our previous trip (at least the ones that I could find stickers for - which was alot!) Then I left blank pages at the back of the book for those that didn't have a character specific page. I know I have seen a link here before where someone has listed all the characters that you are likely to see, but I don't remember what it was. Hopefully someone will come along with that info.

My daughter & I made ours before we left home. I had read that she would get alot of attention when the characters saw that she put together a book & wanted them in it & she did. Chip & Dale especially made a huge deal over it every time!
I bought thicker pastel color copy paper. Cut them in 4's, punched holes in the top (2) & hooked them together w/clips (circle clips that you can continuously turn the pages around). I downloaded (did a google search on picture of Belle from Beauty & the Beast, etc) pictures of characters that she wanted to see or that I thought she might see. I then put them all on 1 sheet & printed it out. Cut out the pictures & pasted them on the colored sheets, alphabetically by movie. Beauty & the Beast, Chip & Dale, Cinderella, Dalmations, etc.... I also left several blank sheets in the back for characters that I didn't have. Made a personalized cover "Abby's WDW Autograph book 2006" and there you go.
Now I work full time, so it took me awhile, but it was worth it!
Good luck!

My oldest DD had an autograph book on her first visit but this time we are going "homemade". We bought photo albums and foam sheets from Michael's(two albums and two huge packs of foam for about $20). The album has two "slots" on each page. There is enough room on each foam sheet for the characters to sign their signature with sharpie markers above or below the black line that we drew to divide the page so we'll get two characters per sheet. Our thoughts are that on each page we'll put their pic with the character and beneath the signatures. They have already planned their Christmas vacation to compile their Disney album to share with everyone when they return to school in January.

My mom bought 6 by 6 books from michaels then she wrote a title on top then put these Disney stickers on the front then she laminated them and when we get home going to put picture on 1 side and the autograph on the other side along with a little printed pix.

Hi I just bought 2 on ebay for 15.45

one would be around 9.20 with shipping

I leave very soon and the books wouldnt make it to me in time so the seller is giong to drop them off at Pop for me this guy rocks his user ID is your_wdw_store

I've done a few different things. I don't want the same one every year so I have done the following:

1) Used a 8.5 X 11 Mickey Scrapbook that was prefilled with white paper. I told each character to leave room for a photo. So many people asked me where they could buy their own. I had actually bought it several years before on sale at WalMart
2) Used a 8 X 8 Mickey Scrapbook that had holders to fill with your own paper. I found a kit of 8 X 8 Disney Papers from Hot of the Press. For characters I didn't have sheets for, I made my own by pasting clip art or putting stickers on solid papers. I also brought several blank sheets of various colors for characters I didn't have sheets for. The characters LOVED seeing themselves. Also as a twist, I took my DDs pictures with a castmember from each country in Epcot. I asked them to write her a message in their language and then I put their picture next to their message.
3) This year, I covered a plain kraft paper album from the dollar section at Target with Mickey Scrapbook paper. I used letters to put "Christmas at Disney World 2006" on the front. Then I put a 3D sticker of Pluto on the front. Instead of taking the book though, I am going to have the characters sign on solid red paper. I will cut the autograph out, mat it, and then mat their picture next to their autograph in the book. I'm taking a clipboard that flips open to store the paper and pen in.

Just some ideas! Have fun, my DD has enjoyed helping me make all of these.
