Needing tips on staying offsite/interested in vacation homes/condos

I think owners mean they are 10 miles instead of ten minutes and you assume it is ten minutes away. We all know it be up to 60 minutes in reality.

I would hope that they are not out and out lieing. How do you learn to trust the whole idea of rental homes. It is very difficult to fix a damaged reputation. There is no perfect we all know that but it is how you handle the imperfect that can save or break you reputaion. Shame on them.

We've used villadirect.com 3 times and all times the home was exactly as pictured or better.
Don't use Families First whatever you do! They don't allow you to choose your own house and even though we requested the neighborhoods around Formosa Gardens, they stuck us way down off of Rt. 27 about 10 miles from WDW! They never turned the pool heat on and wouldn't refund the 3 days that we never had it, (10 day trip.) The manager kept avoiding my phone calls and even battling w/ credit card co. couldn't get my $ back. They were the cheapest we could find and now we know better. It was our 1st home rental experience but it still didn't deter us from trying again. It was soooo nice to have so much space and the kids loved the pool. Once you try it you'll never want to be crammed into a little hotel room again. Have a great trip!

A few more posts like that and the rental homes will be hard to get an opening.

Us home owners love to hear great compliments like this! Its great to hear that even your first time renting a home was not the best...and your still ready to do it again!

Just keep in mind that renting direct from the home owner is much more personal, as well. And yes thank you for the kind words as well!!

Just to update everyone. We have booked the Storytime 3 townhome in Windsor Hills. Even though my oldest is 12, he loved the Mickey themed kids' room and said he would be at Disney and since we can't afford to stay in a deluxe onsite that this seemed even better. I worried that he would think the Mickey stuff was too young for him, but he's very excited.
