Needing Some Disney Magic

Today I met my husband for lunch just the two of us - never happens. After an hour of uninterrupted chatting we walked out the restaurant he went his way me mine, I got to my car and someone had smashed my window and stolen my purse which was hidden in the back. I spent the next 3 hours - yes 3 hours -waiting for the police to arrive. I missed my monthly night out with my "gal" friends and spent the evening canceling all my credit cards etc. It's been a grueling year since our last Disney vacation which ended on January 4, 2008. I just need a break and some fun and some WDW distraction. What is wrong with people? You can't go to Friendly's at 1:30 in the afternoon and have your car safe and respected? Thanks for listening to my vent, I need a vacation!

Sorry to hear about your troubles with your car and purse being taken. My son just had a problem last week as well. His car was parked in our driveway and when he went out to school the next morning discovered the door open and his gps and radial detector taken. I did get on his case since he left the door unlocked but it was in our driveway. We filed a report as well, but he won't get these items back. I believe it's a group of kids probably even in our neighborhood. The officer told us that we don't live in the times of leaving doors unlocked any longer and that we need to learn how to protect ourselves from these type of crimes especially with the economy the way it is.

Wow - I'm sorry your car was broken into, but why on earth would anyone leave a purse in a car??? That's WHY thieves break in - chances are nothing would have happened otherwise.

I don't mean to lecture, but hopefully nobody else is doing something that dumb/risky...no matter where you live or how safe you think it is. Sadly, the days of leaving your stuff out are long gone.

Point well taken but here is why.... I herniated 2 disks in my low back and my DH & DS were always nagging me to stop carrying the heavy pocketbook. So, I pulled out the stuff I use all the time bank card, license, Disney VISA & epi pen and put them in a little bag that goes over my shoulder. The other "non" daily essentials stayed in my nice big bag tucked under the back seat.

I guess the naive idea that we are safe during the daylight hours and that locking our doors makes a difference have to go by the wayside. My windows are tinted and my doors were locked and it wasn't in plain sight... fool am I to think that (as the video shows) they wouldn't go car to car looking in the back windows before they smashed and grabbed.

It won't happen again - lesson learned.

You know I've done the same thing too in the past. Taken the wallet/essentials and left the purse/bag in the car. I am so sorry this happened to you. It is a reminder for me especially with the holidays coming up to be even more cautious.

Sorry to here this. My wife is doing her teaching internship in kind of a bad area and her car was even parked in a fenced in parking lot with police patrol and it still got broken into. She even had her passport in there. Which I still don't know way??? But that another story. So it will cost us about 3 Hundread dollars for every let not including time. People just sometimes really Stink!!!
