Hi
I really could use some help in how to plan the days at WDW for our family. Our son is 3 and this is our first time staying on site and our first family trip. I just feel a little overwhelmed when it comes to making plans at the parks for us. I have guide books and also have read numerous messages on here (which have been great!). But I just don't know where to begin. Any advice?

Off site 3 nights to hit Seaworld and Universal
WL 3 nights
AKL 3 nights

Hi R!

My family JUST did the same exact thing. My daughter is almost 3. I planned it out around the character meals. I booked them first, trying to make each one in a different park each day. The meals determined the park. I found they were the best thing because you didn't feel that you had to wait in line for meet and greets or hang out in a crowd of people for the parade.

You don't say what time of year you're going, that may play into it a little. Which guidebooks do you have? I found the itineraries in the back of the "Unofficial Guide to WDW" to be helpful as well as the itineraries in the "Passporter". I would use one of those if you have them. Also I see you're staying at AKL and WL. Since AKL is near AK, you should definitely do AK one of those days and do MK on the days you are staying at WL - I'm sure you're already planning this way, but it makes sense location wise. That way you can get a fairly early start and then if you feel like you need a mid-day break your pretty close to where you're staying.

Staying onsite, you can also do the Extra Magic Hour (aka early entry) - I remember what parks and days with this little acronym "MADE MAD":
M- Magic Kingdom (Sunday)
A- Animal Kingdom (Monday)
D- Disney Studio's (Tuesday)
E- Epcot (Wednesday)
M- Magic Kingdom (Thursday)
A- Animal Kingdom (Friday)
D- Disney Studios (Saturday)

Most of all relax and enjoy yourselves! This is vacation after all. :D

Hope this helps!
Cheryl

sorry Here are the days we will be at WDW
Oct 27 - Oct 29 Off site
Oct 29 - Nov 1 WL
Nov 1 - Nov 4 AKL

Thanks for all the ideas and tips! I sure need them.

I recommend the UOG as well. This guide should help you decide what your child can and cannot do at the WDW because of his/her age and height. It will answer all of your questions and if you need additional info I also recommend the Passporter or Birnbaum's (books) and/or ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS HERE AT THE DIS!!!

Happy planning!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thanks I think I have one of those books. Plus I have read the site of passporter online. Like I said I think I am just overwhelmed because this trip just came up within the last 3-4 weeks. So I am scrambbling to read all the info I can and make the plans. Hopefully the next time we go to WDW I will have a little more notice and a little more experience under my belt!

Until my DD was 10, we always tried to plan a big break at the hotel mid-day at least every other day.

Our first day we would do a character breakfast and an early sit-down dinner somewhere and back to the hotel fairly early. The second day we would do an Early Entry and do that park 3 - 4 hours then back to the room for 3-5 hours of nap and swimming then back to a park for the evening. This works best if you do a park close to your hotel. The 3rd day you might be able to do a longer day, but the 4th day do a big break mid-day again.

You'll have to plan around park & early entry hours and around your hotels but with a little planning you can create nice 'down' time at least every other day. The trip is always more fun if everyone is well-rested.
