Are there cheaper places further away in Annaheim that we can take a cab over? OR clean hotel that we can walk from to the Grand Californian? THANKS

We are staying off-site our first night in California - which do you prefer? Carousel or Candy Cane for one night?

We are looking for somewhere close to the GC because we will be walking over there with all of our things the next morning. Price is important and they both are within 10 dollars of each other. What are your experiences with their breakfast? THANKS

My choice would be the CCI. But, I would come up with a different plan then walking to change hotels. You'll have to go through security to get to the GC. I can't imagine having them go through all of your luggage. I would call a cab and just pay the few dollars to avoid the hastle.

I agree with both previous posters. Having just returned from the Candy Cane it was a great motel, but the price might be too high and then trying to take your luggage through security is a pain.

How about staying at the Anabelle, that is a closer walk to DGCand the walk is very easy and you do not have to pass through security. They have good internet rates. You can check out Anabelle Hotel on Tripadvisor.com

candy cane is easy in easy out - we have used it for our first night several times.

Can you explain how I would be able to get there walking from the Anabelle. I really don't want to hae to pay for a cab if I don't have to. If I HAVE to pay for a cab I rather stay further away at a cheaper hotel. THANKS

Any tips on where to stay? I read the reports on the Anabelle Hotel and it sounds terrible.

For our July 2007 trip, we just booked at the Courtyard Marriott at Disneyland Resort. It's on West Harbor. It's a new hotel (opened in June 2006). The reviews are really good on Tripadvisor.com. I got a good AAA rate of $98/night.

I'm not a fan of the Anabelle either. This hotel is the reason that I don't want to use Priceline.com for this upcoming trip.

Good luck on your search!!!

Is this walking distance from the GC or would I have to take a cab?

Anything on Harbour, you are going to have to go through Downtown Disney to get to the GC. And that means you will have to go through security. The only ways to avoid going through security while moving from a Harbour hotel to GC are to either take a cab, or walk all the way around the outside of DCA. That's a long walk with all your stuff with you.

I don't know if you can take a tram or something? I have no other ideas on how to avoid security when moving from a Harbour hotel to GC.

We stayed at the Candy Cane Inn and liked it. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was good. They also have a shuttle to Disneyland. I guess you could take that, but I'm not sure if you would have to go through security or not to check in at the GC.

We always stay onsite when we go to DL but since we drive from Santa Cruz (about 7 hrs. give or take) we book a room through Priceline.com with their name your own price option for the first night. We have gotten the Hyatt on Harbor for $49 and thought it was a great deal for a nice hotel.

It's definetley not walking distance from the GCH but you could take a cab and still have $$ left over compared to the CCI. Plus, the whole DTD security check would be a HUGE pain with luggage and you would avoid that whole scenario.

With lugguage, you would have to take a cab. We have taken a cab from GCH to the Hilton on Convention Way (close to the Courtyard) and it cost us $12 for the ride.

We stayed at the Alamo Inn and Suites in 2004. It was just OK, nothing spectacular, I think we paid $52/night. It is old, but was fine for one night of sleeping and a shower. It is on Katella and you could walk up Disneyland Dr to GC, and not have to go through security.

Have you looked into Best Western Stovall's Inn? It is on Katella and a little closer even than Alamo Inn and Suites. I haven't stayed there, but if you are looking for a shorter walk, it would be almost a straight shot up Disneyland Dr to the GC. I don't know anything about it, but it gets avaerage reviews on Trip Advisor. I am sure someone on here may know something about it too. Good luck!

We're looking for a cheap clean hotel for a night when we arrive before moving to the DLH, but since we have a car, I am not too worried about proximity to the DLR hotels, only getting a good deal :)
