Agh! I have the biggest piece of crap vacuum cleaner (in fact, I just bought it a few months ago). It's just a Eureka "Pet Pal" upright that I picked up at Walmart for around $70 (I normally buy a new cleaner every 3 or 4 years - two dogs, a long haired cat, and messy hubby generally kill them at about that rate!).

I don't want to spend Dyson prices, but I know I'll need to spend more. SO - what do you all recommend that I look at? I'm tired of my "new" vacuum spitting dirt out the back and dumping dirt on the floor when I turn it off (and that's AFTER I've cleaned all the filters, etc.!!!!!)

Meile. but they are expensive.

(Had two Dysons, and they were both lemons. Don't worry about not having a Dyson).

I have a Kenmore Bagless, Upright, have had it 10 years, and absolutely love it. I have to buy a new filter once in a while, and replace the belt once in a while, but I just did my first "major" repair. The "Major" repair was replacing the brush for a whopping 30 bucks...

I love my dyson, but I also liked the Kenmore I had. It was a canister and it would go wonders with the cat hair. I have kept the kenmore as a back up.

I have a Dyson (the yellow one, non-ball) and I really like it. I got it at Target on sale with a bonus gift card offer.

I have the Dyson DC25 animal Ball, and I love it! It picks up EVERYTHING! I have to be careful with it on the rugs. I can even go from carpets to hard floor with just the flip of a button. It's the first vacuum I've had that can do both and actually do a good job at it. My other vaccuum is a Bissel Pet Revolution, and it is okay, but doesn't compare to the Dyson.

Some people say the wand is difficult, but I actually find it quite easy. you just lift off the handle and it becomes a long wand. If you don't want the long wand part, it can disconnect to just the hose.

I purchased this one from amazon

When I bought it several months ago, the price was only $68. Wanted bagless, cheap and this one had decent reviews. We were tired of buying expensive vaccuums only to have to replace them a few years later and I really do not like the idea of a bagless vaccuum. A lot of the negative reviews complained about the noise but it no noisier than any other vaccuum we've had and it does a good job with the dog hair.
