Hi everyone,
I am sketching out our 2012 itinerary, and need help with a TS meal. On Tuesday of our first week (when it's just our family of 4) we are planning to spend the day at Typhoon Lagoon, go back to BCV for naps and showers, then DTD for shopping that evening. I had Rainforest Cafe listed for our TS dinner, but the 2012 brochure doesn't list it as participating in the DDP. If this is true, I need to find someplace else that works with that day.

I thought about rearranging other TS and QS, but I really don't want to schedule more than 1 TS per day, so nothing really works. I have Beaches & Cream listed for later in the week when we'll be spending the evening at the resort to pack up for the move to AKV the next morning (meeting up with family for week 2). We are also spending 2 TS on Monday to have dinner at Flying Fish at BW.

What would you all suggest for dinner on a non-park day with a goal of getting to DTD for shopping?

TIA!

I always think about trying new DTD TS restaurants but I really enjoy alot of the CS downtown- Wolfgang Puck express or Earl of Sandwich and then a Ghirdelli sundae. Yum!! :goodvibes

Thanks for starting this thread OP! I am also planning a day like this for our 2012 trip and need ideas of good TS in DTD. Our first night in the world we won't be doing anything, so I am planning a character meal at a monorail resort and plan on looking around those resorts and maybe catching the ELWP, otherwise I would say that plan would work for a WP day. On our water park day we will head to DTD to shop and do DQ so any suggestions would be great!

Raglan Road at DTD is excellent - good food and entertainment. It is a must do for our family.

Rainforest cafe is not on the dining plan. How about Cape May Cafe at the beach club?

Rainforest cafe has never been on the ddp (just on a very very expensive and not often mentioned premium plan)

I'd do a character breakfast (cape may?) then waterpark then DTD cs - Wolfgang puck express at the marketplace is great for a cs and not to be missed imo.

Or if you want a TS dinner - raglan rd - our favourite meal on our last two trips onsite.

My favorite restaurant Downtown Disney is Wolfgang Puck Express.

Since you're staying at Beach Club, I'd have dinner at Cape May Cafe. You could do that before heading to Downtown Disney.

We love Raglan Road! I would also suggest Wolfgang Puck Express or Earl of Sandwich. The last two aren't TS though. I would strongly suggest Raglan Road of those 3.
Have a great trip

Wolfgang Puck Express usually gets great reviews and is considered a "higher end" CS restaurant, and you really get your money's worth out of your CS credit here. I'd probably go here as well. It's also nice because you won't be restricted to an ADR time :thumbsup2

I'd also recommend Cape May Buffet for dinner that night. Its right there at your hotel and you could do it before or after your trip to DTD.

Plus its awesome!

On my trip this fall, I'm thinking about heading over to Universal on the day we go to a water park to eat it Emeril's Tchoup Chop. It's not on the meal plan, but worth the drive! We ate their last year on my Birthday, and it was a great meal!

For TS at DTD I would rec. Raglan Road (not yet on brochure but this seems to be the case every year) or Wolfgang Puck Cafe. For CS I rec. Wolfgang Puck Express (both locations), Earl of Sandwich, or Cooke's of Dublin. All are very good IMHO. In 2009 we ate at WPC 3 times while on DDP. Yum!:goodvibes

I have pictures if you would like to see examples of the food at any of the above.

Yes please! And thank you!

I'm going to have to look up Raglan and Wolfgang Puck. We had considered Earl of Sandwich before, but never made it. I also completely forgot about Cape May! Thank you all for the excellent suggestions. We have some family research to do. One more thing, we're not big seafood eaters and my kids are the usual picky kids. Does that change anything about any of the above recommendations? (asking because I haven't looked at menus yet but remember something about seafood at Cape May)

I'm also going to look again at rearranging some TS meals, because it seems there are more QS options at DTD. But it seems like Raglan Road is a favorite!

Thank you all! :worship:

We went to Rainforest cafe for lunch on our last trip, so I was thinking it was on DDP. But after reading through the posts I went back to look at our itinerary for last time and I see you are correct. We paid OOP because it was our first day and we hadn't checked into our resort for the week yet. I'd prefer not to pay OOP this time if we have the credits available, so I'm marking Rainforest off the list for good! ;)

Yes Cape May is mostly a seafood buffet - I'd say seafood takes up about 1/3 of the buffet. They also have carved meats, ribs and non-seafood sides, plus all the usual picky eater choices at Disney buffets like chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, etc.

But, for us, the beauty of Cape May is the crab legs, so if they weren't part of it or if we didn't eat seafood, I would consider the buffet on par with other Disney buffets like CP.

My son and I don't like seafood at all and we went to Cape May clambake last year with my cousin's family (who do like seafood) We found lots of things to eat-chicken,beef, corn on the cob, corn bread, home-made mac n cheese (not the typical Disney-stouffers type). They had great salads and desserts-oreo bon-bons were awesome!! It was my 2nd fav meal of our trip after Le Cellier :thumbsup2

This actually sounds really good. I did look at Raglan Road, and while I think my DH and I could eat there, I don't think my kids will. Maybe when they are older? I thought about trying it when my sister and her husband join us the next week, but she quickly nixed it when she saw the word "Irish." She's even pickier than my kids!

Thanks for your help!

Additional votes for Raglan Road and Cape May. We have had multiple meals at both and were always happy with them. Cape May can get a little crowded and loud but we had a good time. Don't forget the desserts at Cape May as well - they hide them - not well but not as in your face as other buffets.

Raglan Road (Irish Pub) in DTD would be my choice, but, we also like Paradiso 37 (Mexican) and Portobello Yacht Club (Italian) and both are in DTD. Since your plans are to go to DTD, I'd pick a place there.
