Hi,
I am heading back once again, and will be in need of transportation. I will be flying in alone with my 3 kids. (dh was too injured in auto accident to come) I honestly prefer to not rent a car. Mears transportation is horrible IMO, so I hope to avoid them for the bulk of my transportation needs. Do I use a limo service to / from the airport and Mears while down there? I will be needing daily transport to and from Orange Lakes to the parks. Thank you so much!!

Welcome to the DIS boards!!! Sorry to hear about your dh..hope he's doing okay.
As to your dilemna....it looks like you will have to either get a cab or hire a towncar service in order to get to your hotel from the airport. Does your hotel provide shuttle service to the Disney parks? If so, then you should be okay. If not, you may want to change hotels and find one that does. Otherwise you'll be running quite a stiff bill for getting to and from the parks. If you aren't staying in a hotel, but a condo type deal, then I'm really not sure what your best bet it. But, I'm sure someone here can give you some ideas!!

Daily transport to and from an off-site location that does not have scheduled shuttle service is likely to cost you a LOT more than a rental car would (presuming you got a very basic car). I would think very hard about getting a small rental; staying off-site with children but without a vehicle can be very difficult.

R/T car service to/from MCO will run somewhere around $100 incl. the gratuity. Mears would cost about the same for 4 people.

Thank you for the suggestions, nad the kind welcome. Yes, I am staying at an off property time share. We will be at the Orange Lakes. They use the Mears transportation only. I plan to be at MK till after midnight on the 22nd, but they stop picking up around 11 pm. So, I will still need to find a way home. ugh! I thought about renting a car, but the savings will only be about 100-120.00 or so. Not enough for me to go that route. LOL I just do not like to drive where I do not know the area. Guess I just need to really crunch some numbers.

Cab fare from the TTC to Orange Lakes will run in the $20-30 range. Cab fare to and from the airport will be in the $50+ range each way. ALl are exclusive of tips. Cars can be rented for $150/week. Seems like a no brainer.

1st, sorry to hear about your dh. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
2nd: Orange Lake Country Club is on Rt.192 just a couple miles west of World Drive (big entrance to WDW) We have stayed in rental homes many times in this area and our timeshare is on 192 too (a little west of OL)

It's such an easy drive and also plenty of signs leading you back to 192 while exiting WDW, which is just as important as getting you there. Going there you'd drive east, and coming home, follow the signs for 192 West. Only need to go on 1 public road to get to/from WDW property.

Also Rt. 192 has large mile markers so if you remember what mm Orange Lake is near, you'll know when to start looking for your entrance to Orange Lake on your way back from WDW.
I think hiring transportation will cost you a FORTUNE and unless you have major driving anxiety or live where you drive on the opposite side of the road, you'll be ok renting. It would give you so much more freedom. I got a phenomenal rate using promo code KISS2 from Dollar.com. They're right on site at the airport terminal so that's one less headache to worry about when you're on your own w/kids. :goodvibes

Thank you. I think I will do a rental. Just too much money, and not reliable enough I am thinking. I just tried the promo code for Dollar, and it only took off 3.00!!!!! LOL Hardly worth using for my needs (full size car for 6 days). I will check out some of the other companies, or even priceline. Appreciate all the helpful advice.
