Not sure which board this belongs on so I'll start here.
I have a former coworker that moved to Florida last year. They live close enough to Disney to go for long weekends here and there. She just posted pictures of her family from last week's trip. Every picture she posted not her husband or none of her kids has a mask on. She had pictures inside the parks, outside at the entrance to the parks and on the resort grounds. This just aggravated me so much and they do not have medical conditions preventing them from wearing a mask, she just wanted her pictures to be cute. I should have sent her screenshots of people's trip reports and all their pictures with their masks on, I'm sure they would have liked to have cute pictures too. I'd like to know how she got so many pictures inside the parks without their masks on.

My guess is they were able to do so because they were stationary with food or drink in hand.
Not saying its right but its a work around and one that Disney's current policies allow for.
You just have to worry about yourself and hope karma takes care of others.
Its not helpful that certain states like Florida have not treated the pandemic quite as seriously as other states like New York.

Would be the best place, this one is just for discussing the parks themselves and strategies for the best experiences.

:-)

But ya that is obnoxious for sure, I can see a snapshot at the resort IF no one is around. But inside the parks and outside is completely disrespectful to everyone else.

I would for sure not let it get to you so much though, just don't go to WDW with them. lol

Disney allows masks to be removed for brief periods for pictures( not on rides) and while stationary& eating/ drinking.

resorts are similar..you only need to wear masks in public areas frequented by guests. And even pool side there are exemptions

Disney specifically does NOT allow you to remove a mask in the parks for just taking a photo. That is against policy. Only for eating and drinking.

Ryno from the Dis said on Twitter that mask compliance today was the worst he’s seen. People certainly seem to be getting more bold.

I feel so bad for the CMs who have to babysit these disrespectful guests.

Sorry, but I believe you are incorrect. You are NOT allowed to remove your mask for pictures.

Coming from CM and with girlfriend/friends working as CMs during this pandemic, I can confirm you are not allowed to remove your mask for pictures.

I know people here say they have no problem with it and even saw comment like jealous. I can tell you, politics and everything aside, this kind of behavior sure makes it really hard for all of us who work hard to enforce and ensure safety of everyone. You have no idea how often my girlfriend comes home from work in tears being yelled at by people when she ask them to properly wear their masks. CMs are people too and all we ask is to just follow the rules. I know you hate it, but we hate it too. Let’s just all work together to get through this.

Okay, this is so not okay. I'm going to go around and personally thank each and every CM on our next trip. It may seem like a thankless task to those who are doing it day in and day out, but for every guest who is a jerk, there are guests like me who are super thankful and appreciative of the CMs.

People who aren't prepared to follow the stated rules should not go.

I would worry about yourself to be honest.

They should NOT be breaking the rules...It also doesn’t make sense that people have no problem with you not having your mask on if you have a ice cream or soda in your hand.

And yet by population Florida is number 25 in deaths by covid, and NY is number 2 even with drastic lock downs So I’d say Florida is doing something right.
if you’re worried people won’t have masks on every second at Disney then don’t go. If you are going to spend your entire trip judging other people then stay home

Wait, hold up. So NY is second in deaths despite shutdowns and Florida is 25th because they aren’t shutting down. Ergo shutting down spreads the virus? 😂

What a position to take. How about if people can’t keep their masks on and follow Disney’s well documented rules and policies, THEY shouldn’t go. Good grief.

The epicenter was in NYC area which has an extremely dense population. Also in case you were not aware NYS gets a lot of cold and snow so people tend to be inside where its easier to spread.
There is also more to NYS than just NYC and if you look at other areas it never got as bad.

I'm not worried about people not having masks on... I worry about myself and that's it... I'd like to go but its not going to be in the near future.
I myself would rather wait until masks are not required. Not sure if I can hold out that long though.
