We are going to Disney for 8 days, 7 nights January 4-11. It is just two of us. We opted for the deluxe dining plan. This is, 3 TS + 2 Snacks, per day per person. We chose the plan because we (read me) like to sit down and eat our meals, and we like some of the signature restaurants. We probably will only have 2 TS meals per day. What should we do with our extra points? Are there any signature restaurants open for lunch? Here is our current ADR list, with point values. We have 12 left, each.

I would like to have a nice sit down meal on our last day, 1/11, for lunch. We fly out at 5:40 pm. We are staying at the Yacht Club.

If we do room service breakfast, can that be used for 2x points?

EDIT: Also, if we have any extra snacks, what's the best stuff to bring home? Candy?

I think Brown Derby is in the only signature open for lunch ... could you maybe switch that to a lunch reservation and add a signature for dinner? I would choose Jiko.

I do think that room service is 2 credits. Still leaves you a bunch of credits.

We really enjoyed lunch at Tutto Italia last year. And even though it isn't the best use of credits money-wise, The Plaza in the MK is a really nice lunch spot.

If you're going to have that many credits left over, you might want to question your choice of the deluxe dining plan if you're using it as any sort of money-saving device. Deluxe credits are not TS credits. They can be used for either TS or CS meals. Rather than not using the credits at all, use some of them for CS meals.

The only signature restaurants that serve lunch are the Hollywood Brown Derby and CRT.

If you're sold on the deluxe dining plan for the convenience and/or the appetizers, you might consider trading some of your 1 TS dinners for a dinner show or a signature restaurant, or order room service on a few days. Two of the 1 TS restaurants you have booked for dinner also serve lunch, you might consider switching those to lunch and booking some 2 TS dinners.

The problem you are bound to have is that your trip is so close that you might have trouble changing your reservations or booking new ones. But having 24 deluxe credits left over isn't going to do anything for the value of the deluxe dining plan to you. Mickey's going to keep most of the money you have prepaid in that instance.

Not sure if you have kids but we are planning to do DXDP for first time next year (mainly for shows etc) but think we will probablyhave a few TS spare and a few of the gimicky places that we have always turned down we will be booking for lunch and just having ice-creams or fruit that we would usually use cs for.

I know many will cringe at this waste of $$$ but for us it will mean we can afford to have the meals we want, budget now, not worry about any change in the exchange rate and visit some places that would otherwise not appeal to certain members of the family.

For instance nothing much on the Sci-Fi menu appeals to us but we would happily use a spare credit each to have a dessert and drink at lunch time to enable my son to visit one of his 'wish' restaurants.

Let me reiterate, because it may not have been clear. We have 12 extra TS points, net of dinner ADR's and 1 breakfast ADR at CRT. I assume we will use 8 on lunch (one for everyday of our trip), leaving 4 per person. I am considering using them for a late night extra meal, or room service. Can anyone confirm that room service at the Yacht Club is 2 TS points?

Now that I think about it, I don't think we'll have much of an issue using all of our points. We opted for deluxe, because we don't want to think about cost during meals, we just want to go and be free to eat whatever we want. Also, the cost was only an extra $25/per day per person or so.

Thanks for everyone's input. Now I'll have to decide how to use the snacks...

Would you consider changing some of these ADRs? Because a lot of these are also open for lunch (ie: Chefs de France, Cinderella's, Le Cellier, AND Brown Derby) so, if you changed those to lunch ADRs (say early lunch, late dinner?) you could then do a number of other 2TS signature restaurants such as Narcoossees, Flying Fish, or Jiko...you could also throw a few breakfasts in there as well!

We might consider switching Brown Derby for lunch. We selected the others strategically. CRT is actually 9:35 AM, for breakfast (just edited that now on the 1st post).

I might consider swapping Boma for Jiko. It would be nice to swap for a bottle of wine...too bad that doesn't work.

I don't think we're going to have much of a problem using the points. I was shocked initially when I saw we had 12 extra TS, but subtract 8 lunches, and it's only 4. So less 1 for swap to Jiko and we can use the remaining 3 for room service, or breakfast.

You need to count the credits again!

You get 3TS credits (if you choose to use them all as TS) per NIGHT.

I think you calculated incorrectly. The dining plan credits are per night so you will have 21 meal credits and 14 snack credits per person for 7 nights.

Above two posters are correct. You will start with 21 dining entitlements (credits) each, based on a seven night stay.

You have twelve credits 'assigned' and nine remaining.

To use up extra snack credits, think of things that you can take home...most gift shops and stores have things that you can use up extra snack credits on like big packaged cookies, mickey rice krispy treats, packs of nuts, bottled drinks (if you aren't flying). Goofy's candy company at DTD has the biggest selection of snack credit items to use them up and take home, but your resort gift shop will have a lot too.

While you are there, snack credits can be used for lots of things, pastries, ice cream, slushies, soft pretzels, popcorn, nuts, bagged cookies, drinks, dole whips, fresh fruit cups or whole fruit. But on the deluxe plan I doubt you will be interested in much snacking besides a drink here or there.

Yacht CLub - room service would be great from here. And all taxes and gratuities are included for room service :thumbsup2

For snacks - make sure you use them for everything you can. Many people will not use them to buy water.soda, then find a ton left over at the end. Use them for that soda and what not

Did you see the snack credit sticky? Hopefully that will help

Have a great time, you are staying at a wonderful hotel!

Captain's Grille at the Yacht club was one of our favorite restaurants.

It is 1 credit, usually pretty easy to get into and you can choose a chef's choice dinner and it includes an appetizer in addition to entree and dessert.

From what I've seen, room service is 2 meal credits... but I'd rather go to a restaurant unless I was sick or something.....

If you did want to switch some of your 1 TS meals to lunch and do a signature for dinner.... we enjoyed Citrocos and Narcoosees at the Grand Floridian Resort.... And I'd eat at California Grill twice in one trip -- while I didn't think much of the setting, the CG food was very, very good. We also liked Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge very much...

Next trip, we plan to try Flying Fish and Yachtsman - also signature restaurants.

Enjoy your trip!
