Ok we are getting ready to plan our vacation to orlando and I was wondering if this is the best board for universal info? I was wondering if they offer special deals like Disney does and stuff like that. Last year we were able to get kids stay/play free for disney and was wondering if they offered something like that. Also need to go to sea world and whatever other parks are down there, but probably not going to do the 1 hour drive to Busch Gardens.

i'm not sure what you mean when you say 'special deals like disney'.

tickets?

UO hotels can be affordable.
If you have AAA, you can receive a decent discount.
there are promo room rate deals. for 2012, the Stay More, Save More promo is available for great room rates.

You are better off financially of buying tickets, hotel rooms separate than doing it as a package.

if you stay onsite, you can use the free shuttle from the UO hotels to Sea World, DC, Wet and Wild.
for $10, you can have rt transportation to Busch Gardens.

If you're planning on visiting other parks in the area look into the Orlando Flex Pass. We did a two week central Florida vacation and found it was great deal. At the time it was unlimited admission to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens and Wet n' Wild. Since that time Aquatica has opened (as well as Harry Potter) so I think they may have revised the parks a bit. We paid about $250/pp for 14 days unlimited admission to 5 parks. The other nice thing was once you paid to park for the day you just save the receipt and its good for parking at any of the other parks. Some days we did SeaWorld in the morning, took an afternoon break and then went to US/IOA at night.

Special deals and promotions, I know that disney will send out pin codes from time to time that give you great deals, as well as the package promotions that they run all the time like kids stay and play free and the free meal plan stuff, you know all the deals that people talk about on this forum. I have a AAA member ship and I already contacted my aaa travel agent so that we can book with her in Feb because that is universal month. But I wanted to start doing my research now to be prepared and to try to get the best deal. I also saw a deal once that southwest offered if you purchased air with the package. How is it cheaper to buy the tickets and room seperate if you are buying it all from the universal site?

I don't have AAA but my mom, who is traveling with us, does. Since it's not my membership I'm unclear about how things work. What do you mean Feb. is their Universal month? The offers have to be booked at a specific time? How do I find out what the schedule is for various offers?

actually you don't even have to be a member anyway. They just have better deals that month I guess? Last year we booked a disney trip at aaa in january (disney month) and we got a free one year membership and a $50 gc.
