Ok, my DF & i decided we would get married in Florida October/November this year as we thought it would be less stressful!! We booked Virgin through tour operater.
Mum & dad decide to join us, they book direct with Virgin. Mum & dad cant get in Hilton where we are getting married so they book hotel close by.
After some info learnt from you good people out there, i find out that mum & dads hotel is going to demolished in July!!! I panic, mum phones Virgin, who say they 'no nothing'... even though hotel is no longer in new edition brochure or on web site. Mum asks 'can we change hotels?' Virgin say yes but they will be charged £150!!!!. Virgin recommend mum waits till they send a letter telling her their hotel is going to be a pile of rubble & then they wont charge her to change!!! I decide to check web site to see what hotels are available on our dates...none!!!! Result - we are all stressed!!!

yesterday i go to my ta to see about adding 2 extra nights onto the end of our holiday, done it before no problem, ta phones virgin gets Indian call centre, man puts her on hold for 35 minutes, she phones on another line whilst still waiting, gets same call centre lady puts her on hold, finally has to hang up as shop wants to shut!!! Ta calls today tells me after being put on hold for 30 mins they come back with a price for 2 nights at £48 per night quoting £800!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ta insists they check, after more time on hold they say computers arnt working phone back Monday.
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh
I can only guess that they priced the 2 nights with first class flights to get that price!!
Result - i have pmt..you dont need to ask! :badpc:
Thankyou for letting me let off some steam :thumbsup2

Oh Tracey, sounds like you're having a pretty stressful time of it at the moment. I hope everything works out OK for you in the end :grouphug:

Hope everything works out well in the end. Ask your mum to ring again or ask for customer service, just be persistant.

Wow I dont envy you in your predicament, it sounds awful you must be worried sick. :scared: :scared: :scared:

Hope you manage to work it all out , and that your wedding goes well and your holiday :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Tony :cool1:

Nothing worse than trying to speak to someone on the phone and getting nowhere - all the best, sure it will work out fine.

Thanks guys I new you would make me feel a bit better :)
Off to cook a meal for 8 now, so i will proberbly be stressed again lol
At least it will take my mind off other things :)

Tracey

What hotel were they going too? Surely they would have to offer them something comparableand close by? I feel sure that this will be sorted out at no cost to your parents when their computers are up-dated with the correct information.

Try to stay calm as this will be worked out.

Congratulations on a wonderful wedding in the best place in the world.

Susan

Hope you get everything worked out Tracey. Try to keep calm. pixiedust:

Meantime, happy cooking. :)

mark&sue my parents were/are!! staying at the Best Western Sea Wake in Clearwater.
A Dis member is out there now staying at this hotel & was kind enough to offer to try & get me something in writing & some info for when they return on March 11th. Watch this space!!! :worried:
Anyone know of a number to ring virgin direct & get the English call centre?????

Hope you get it sorted out and that your meal tonight is a success :goodvibes

Have you tried all the other 5 hotels, seems very early for all of them to be booked up? If the price of the holiday goes up VH usually waive the £25 fee, they did in 2004 when I added two nights onto our flydrive, and then they only got the extra two days car hire, about £40 in all, no accommodation was booked through them.

Claire ;)

BTW what dates do you parents need? I am sure if VH need to they will get extra allocation at hotels to accommodate the displaced travellers.

Claire ;)

We fly out October but the week we get married & stay in the hotel/rubble is 2 november, They said Hilton was booked up, although it is available direct, the others came up not available on virgins web site except for one at Crystal river or indian rocks & both seem pretty far away. We are hoping they will allocate more rooms for the displaced travellers that will be effected, the dis board member who is out there now called the hotel direct last week they said it was due to close July but it could be extended, i think they will stay open for the summer season, trouble is until they give a definate date i presume Virgin wont be notified, so the less notice we get the less chance of getting my parents close to us!!
On a good note the meal went well :) & i resisted dessert as i am dieting to fit in that wedding dress!!! 3 weeks in Florida & not getting married till the last week could have been a mistake lol

When we went with virgin in 1999, the hotel we originally booked was having extensive work done, About 10 weeks before we flew out, Virgin wrote and offered us 3 alternative hotels all of which were better than our original hotel. 2 were showing 'no availability' when my friend rang them. Virgin had secured extra rooms just for those who they needed to move from the Sheraton. One was a hotel not in their brochure. We went over Christmas and New Year and they still managed to pull this out of the hat for us.

My advice is don't panic. When they finally do realise that the hotel your mum has booked won't be there they may even find rooms in the Hilton with you.
We were staying at the Sheraton and the hotels they offered were all more expensive and closer to WDW. We eventually plumped for the Courtyard due to it's location.

wow, that makes me feel so much better, thanks for the info, i will let everyone know what happens!! :)
Gonna ring mum now & tell her!

Tracey - have you tried calling the virgin wedding dept? We used BA when we got married at Disney 5 years ago and I got a few letters informing us of buliding work at the GF hotel - I went mad and called the wedding dept they kept me very well informed and even sent me a cuddly toy for the hassle!!!!! :hyper:

Don't worry about the wedding taking place the last week- just live on the lettuce leaves at the salad bar and you will be fine!!! :rotfl2: We were in Orlando for a week before we got married and I was worried the dress would not fit -it ended up being slighly big due to all the running around at the parks and malls!!! :teeth:

LETTUCE LEAVES IN DISNEY!! I cant do that, its just not right!!! :teeth: :teeth:
At least i had the sense to buy a dress that laces up at the back!

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: Tracey I am sure they will sort something out for you :)

You just don't need this sort of thing especially with a wedding, do you?

Nope, but i'm trying to be positive, thanks everyone for all your support i really appreciate it :grouphug: :cloud9:
