Need to chill, another 12 months yet!

Hello again all

So, just had a call from Disney weddings and turns out the date i want next year is already taken because we have only gone and picked Columbus Day weekend!!

As we are only having the escape package we have now been pencilled in for a date we dont particularly want and a time we dont particularly want as it is going to be a busy week, but still wont even know if we have got this for another 4 months! Obviously should have done my research a little better and not picked such a busy time!

A rather anxious 4 months in store now until we can confirm, just wondering if anyone else is going for October 2012 for their wedding? I feel all stressed already and i have only had one phone call

I picked 4 different dates in December and November of 2012 that we liked so that we would have options. Since you have a while and you can still change dates I would look at a calendar closely and choose 4 other dates that you like and give them to disney as options for them to see what is available for you. This will help them to get you in on a date and time you like.

Unfortunately it is a little more difficult as we already have our hotel / villas booked for 3rd - 17th October as i presumed it wouldnt be much of a problem to get a time during those 2 weeks that we wanted.
The week running 3rd to 10th they only have the weekend available (higher minimums) or the 5th which will be too much of a rush. The week running 10th to 17th they only have the 15th available, i dont want to leave it that late as we wont be able to relax.
Im sure we will get sorted in the end, we will just have to learn to compromise a little! x

Hi sweetie - Why not look into a S/D wedding. They may well have a date that is more convenient for you open, it may well be cheaper, have less rules and regulations and would lack none of the magic!!! I know.... I hear y'all saying 'Here she goes again, banging on about S/D weddings', but it's all true!!!!

Have you got flights booked?

Why don't you invstigate changing the hotel/villa dates, it might be possible.

If you can't i'd go for the 5th and if possible book my flight for before the 3rd and book a hotel for another couple of nights.

I dont have flights booked yet but i have everything else arranged around those 2 weeks i.e. evening reception when we return home.

I have emailed our photographer today to see what their availability is during this timeframe and will go from there x

Hi Fonz86! I'm pretty much in the same boat as you.. we're hoping to travel 13th Oct - 27th Oct and get married on the 23rd but as we can't secure anything until february i'm constantly panicing! I was going to get the villas booked now and leave the flights until later but it looks like i'd be best waiting till they've confirmed we're good to go during those weeks. It's so hard because dragging people across from the UK in the first place is not the simplest task - they all want to get things booked and organise time off work and I can't give them any answers! Keep us updated on how you get on lovely x

Thats the thing with travelling over from the UK, we cant just leave it until 8 months before to let everyone know as they need to plan too! We have just gone ahead and booked our hotel, the flights will be on sale in a few weeks, i couldnt stand to wait!
As it stands we are going for 9th October 2012 at 5pm in the wedding pavillion - fingers and toes crossed - please nobody else on here tell me you are also hoping for then

I was really fortunate and the date and time I wanted was available even though it was Presidents Day Weekend. I didn't think that they "booked" dates out until they had received the deposit. As you've already got a lot of stuff already booked, it's hard to see a solution that will completely suit you. Perhaps look at S/D weddings or see if you can tweak your dates just a little?

I hope you manage to get what you want and in the meantime, relax and enjoy it. I know it can be really stressful but it's your big day and you really should enjoy every second of it!

Maybe it was a wishes wedding that was already contracted/deposited, as those are done at 12 months for 2012 weddings.

OP, good luck! I know how stressful it is, we're in the beginning stages of the process for our November 2012 wedding and I'm driving my fiance nuts stressing about things, since we're got to coordinate family and all coming down there and I want to give them as much notice as I can.
