Ok Ladies...I NEED HELP! We have been going to Disney for years and I continue to have the same problem. Every year, as I step out in the heat and humidity the first day I think "Darn...I forgot to ask"...well this year..Im not forgetting!!!

We live in Michigan...so the weather is quite different from Florida. So, every morning I do my hair and makeup and by 10am, I have raccoon eyes, no foundation and all other makeup is pretty much gone for the day. As well is my hair (which is usually pony tails anyway) is oily and plastered to my head.

I avoid all the pictures because I dont like the way I look.

So....that all being said...what make-up do you use that lasts the day? Hairspray? Shampoo, Conditioner?

What are your tips and tricks to staying looking fabulous in the heat and humidity???

We live in IL so we don't really have the humid weather that FL gets either.
I have curly hair and the humidity basically makes me look like a chia pet!
I use Joico shampoo/conditioner and then use Joilotion--it's a leave in gel that keeps all the frizzy down. My hair is shoulder length so it's mostly in braids, pony tail or hair clips.
As for makeup--less is better. I still use my moisturizer-Cetaphil with SPF 15. Then I apply foundation-Cover Girl mineral liquid and then a mineral powder both Cover girl. I leave off the eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara. I wear sunglasses all day anyway. If we go to a nice dinner or freshen up after the parks before returning for a dinner reservation, that's when I apply the eyeshadow etc.
I hope this helps.
Enjoy your trip!

I live in central Indiana, so unfortunetly humidity is something I deal with a lot. I like to use John Frieda anit-frizz products, mostly the straight fixation (I think that's what it's called). It's a hair cream that you put on before blow drying. It really helps me here. As far as hair spray, I have yet to find something that stands up all day. I usually flat iron my hair and let it fly haha.

Make up- I like cover girl foundation. I apply very lightly. I also use Covergirl mascara, "Falsies". I really like it, but I dont' think it's waterproff, so I will have to find something new!

For years I've had the same problem-the only real solution for frizzy hair is to buy a cute Disney hat and wear that or go in the winter months when it's not humid-those are the only things that have ever worked for me and when I say my hair gets frizzy-I mean it! It just grows and puffs out and looks awful. I feel the same way about our pictures! When we went in December it was the first time I was able to wear my hair down & not have any problems. Next year we're going in early Feb & I'm hoping for the same type of weather. I don't like hot, humid weather for many reasons, so I try to avoid it! This year we went the end of Feb & it was so hot-we were shocked! Good luck!

A brazilian blowout.

Seriously, I'm from Louisiana and I'm still getting one 6 days before we leave, just so I don't have to tame my hair every day I'm there. (And for 3 additional months I won't have to either.)

Powder face makeup and waterproof mascara. I wear contacts otherwise I would probably just wipe my whole face with a wipe mid-day and start over. It will probably feel good cleaning your face anyway. As far as hair, I'm in the Chia Pet Hair Club as well and haven't found any good hair products (but will look at some of the ones mentioned in this thread!). The last time we went, we took pics on a non-humid day and my hair looked decent. It does get humid here in NJ so I know a little.

I live in the very humid southeastern US so frizzies and flyaways are things I battle daily. What works best for my hair is Bumble & Bumble's DeFrizz. It isn't the cheapest product, but it doesn't take much so you could get the travel size and have plenty leftover. When my hair is still wet I smooth a nickel sized amount throughout my hair and then blow dry. I finish the blow dry on a cool setting making sure my hair is completely dry - if it is still damp, it will get frizzy! Then, I take a dime size amount of the Defrizz and smooth on top of my dry hair.

At Disney or the beach I don't start my day by washing my hair, it's just a waste of time. I wash it in the afternoon/evening - the humidity isn't as bad AND we tend to skip the wet rides and take our nights a bit slower (so no sweating either). In the morning, my hair is still clean but has enough natural oil in it to keep it from getting as frizzy no matter how I wear it. This also saves tons of time getting ready early in the morning.

As far as makeup - I love Bare Escentuals powder foundations. At Disney I put mineral veil on first, then the foundation powder (after my normal lotion with sunscreen). This makes such a difference! Normally you finish with the mineral veil but in humid environments reversing the order actually helps it stay put. I don't wear mascara to the parks during the day, only at night. I hate racoon eye and with the blazing sun and get wet rides there is just no way to avoid it. I do know people who get their lashes tinted prior to a vacation and that would work, but I don't know how expensive it is. I figure I'll have sunglasses on the majority of the time.

In reading my own post here I've realized that I should do all distance photos during the day and save close ups for nights.

I also get a keratin treatment a week or two prior to my summer Disney trip so that my hair stays relatively straight during the trip. Makes a huge difference between frizz ball and acceptable hair for me. I don't wear foundation but use a pressed powder instead and that seems to last. I also wear waterproof eyeliner and waterproof mascara, and so far, no raccoon eyes. But the lipstick is the issue for me. My lips get so chapped in the sun, even with sunscreen lip balm and long-lasting lipstick - by mid-day the lipstick is gone if I try to reapply, it goes on so thready and nasty. Haven't found a decent one that lasts.

Bare Minerals powder for my face, and waterproof mascara. Usually one that has smaller tines on it, like Maybeline Lash Finder, etc.

As for hair, I just use a heavy conditioner and put it up in a bun after it's been towel dried. I figure I'm not going to win vs. Florida humidity and Big Thunder Mountain, so why try? :lmao:

Hair-french braided right before we leave-stays in for 5-7 days. You can swim shower etc just blot the braids dry
Makeup-ROC face primer, Bare Escentuals foundation, Bare Minerals Mineral Veil, very small amount of minerals eye shadow and waterproof mascara, put a travel size mineral veil in your bag for touch ups
:goodvibes

We've been pretty nasty here in Ohio and I learned that just bronzer works on my face and I only use eye liner on the top lid. I will probably wear lashes in lieu of wearing any actual eye make up

As a local, this is my daily battle.

When I'm spending a day at the parks, I keep my makeup to a minimum. Liquid foundation, blush, and lip gloss. I keep a powder foundation with me to touch-up throughout the day. I use Neutrogena skin-clearing products as I still have problems with blemishes. Typically, the pricier the makeup, the better it'll keep all day.

As for hair, I use a smoothing milk every night to keep the frizz down. There are a lot of anti-frizz products out these days and I find most of them do the trick depending on your hair type. Our humidity is bad from May to November, so some locals usually don't put a lot of work into their 'dos as it just comes undone walking to the car! Count me as one of them.

Looking "pretty" at the parks during the late spring/summer/early fall times is just not something anyone should worry about because no matter what you do, you'll look less than salon perfect. I gave up worrying about it because everyone else looks the same, so no one pays attention anyway!

Well, my biggest secret is WHO CARES? :rotfl2: I'm on vacation! Lighter is better! Waterproof mascara and a little eye liner and I'm good to go. I throw my wet hair into a pony tail or a braid and that's it. (well, sunscreen of course) And smile for the pictures. Because as I am learning, the people who care, who will want to see the pictures love you for you, not how you look at the moment. Have a great trip!
Forgot, I keep a little pack of baby wipes in my bag to wipe my face off through the day when it's crazy hot. It's refreshing and a quick clean!

I like the Moroccan Oil line for shampoo, conditoner, and anti frizz serum for my hair. I've read good reviews for the Avon Lotus Shield Antifrizz serum, but bought a bottle, tried it down there and didn't like how it made my hair feel. It did help with the frizz though.

As far as makeup, the less the better at WDW as just about anything is going to melt right off. Several years ago, I went for permanent makeup for my eyeliner and lips, so I don't have to worry about that. My eyeliner on both lower and upper lids is sort of a blackish with a dark olive green tint in it. I can wear lipstick if I want, but if I don't, my lips are just a rose color, sort of natural, but just a half shade darker. I love permanent makeup.:rotfl: If I do wear any makeup down there it's usually only at night and it's mineral makeup (maybe a little primer, foundation, blush, top coat, eye shadow, and waterproof mascara). If you do wear makeup the key to keeping it on in the humidity is the primer. I use a mineral primer under the foundation and Urban Decay primer under the eye shadow. Top with mascara primer and then waterproof mascara. The one thing I do apply religiously several times a day down there is a moisturizing lip balm with spf. The sun and wind dries my lips out so bad, I have to keep something on them. I also have a night time moisturizing lip treatment I picked up a Sally's Beauty Supply that I use a couple times a week here at home, but nightly if I'm on vacation. It wonderful for keeping lips from getting dry and chapped.

Something else I make sure I do is use a good day moisturizer, eye cream, and night cream down there. Otherwise the sun does a number on my dry skin with little flakies popping up between my eyes. In the morning I moisurize, apply sun screen, let dry, and if wearing makeup apply a primer and foundation. If wearing makeup, I also carry blotting sheets to absorb oils and perspiration.

For make-up, I love my bare minerals. For hair... still searching for that miracle product. My hair is shoulder length and fine. The humidity makes it stringy and/or lots of fly aways. Sure would appreciate advice. Otherwise I will have to resort to the ballcap look.

The thing I don't understand is how you get enough sun screen. If I used my regular Bare Minerals foundation I would be burned by lunch. So I'm made up with SPF 45 or higher adding to the sticky, shiney mess!!

I don't worry much about sunscreen on my face. I get a little from my bare minerals and get protection from my ball cap or straw hat. Plus, we live in the country in Ohio and already have a medium tan from yard work.

I live in Wilmington, NC (southestern coastal area) and I agree with everyone who said bare escentuals. I like the bronzer called "a little sun" and I use Latisse for my eyelashes so I don't have to worry about wearing mascara!

I like the comment about a brazilian blowout! I am going to try that before I go! May help be a time saver instead of having to put 2 or 3 different anti-frizz products on my hair!

Thanks!

Great Thread! I was wondering the same things for my upcoming trip. Totally agree with the ladies that mentioned Bare Minerals. That's great. I am also going to try just going with my Sonia Kashuk tinted moisturizer and MAC Mineralized Skinfinish. Other than those will probably do some BM eyeshadow, waterproof mascara and gloss. My tip..curl your lashes ladies!! It does WONDERS for making your eyes look put together, with little effort.

For my hair, which is thick, wavy and long, I SWEAR by my Lush products. Lush makes handmade skin and hair care, among other wonderfully great products. I use their Rehab shampoo, American Cream Conditioner, and R&B hair moisturizer. The R&B is heavenly!! :littleangel: Keeps my hair tame and conditioned, not to mention it smells great!

I am hoping my routine holds up for hours and hours of fun in the parks!! :teeth:

Someone on the boards recently recommended Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid daily sunblock, SPF 70. It took me awhile to find it, but I have to say it really works well for me.
A big THANK YOU to whoever posted about it!
