Since the weather has gotten cooler, we have been opening the bathroom window. We have two new ones that were strays. Simba has been with us since about May and has really gotten comfortable with me. Meets me at the door and will let me look on him. I can not pick him up, but I can give him lots of loves.

Twiggy we just recenly fostered. She was a feral cat from near my husbands office, who had 5 kittens and was barely surviving. They were able to catch the kittens and then her and we volunteered to foster her. She has slowly getting more comfortable with us and will let us love on her, but still gets scared.

Twiggy got into the window and started to rip the screen. I stopped her from doing in the other day. This morning, I got up and Simba is out on the ledge outside the window and one of our cats is trying to get out of the hole that Twiggy finished. My DH can and got Tinker back in, but Simba jumped down. When he went outside to try and get him, Simba bolted into the bush and stuff behind our house. We spend 20 minutes looking and calling for both of them, with no luck. My DD had to go to school and I had to go in and watch our GDD. DH still tried to look for them both.

Evenutally we went in and tried to take a nap. I couldn't lay down because GDD got awake, so I went to check on her. DH thought he heard somthing and found that Twiggy had come back and was on the window ledge but we had closed it. He tried to open it so she could get back in, but she bolted again.

Later we went in the bush and searched as much as we could and didn't find them. We do have a humane trap out side to make catch one or both if they should come back. DH wasin our room looking out the window and happened to see Twiggy in the yard. He tried to call her and then went out side to try and coax her in. He was able to get a hold her,but she still has her claws and she ripped him up pretty good. and is gone again. We still have not seen Simba at all. I hope is is near Twiggy and will eventually come home.

He is such a sweetie. He meets me at the door when I come in. He lets me know when the food bowls need to be filled. And when the water dishes need to be filled.
This is my Simba Boy

So sorry to ear about your cats. I hope that they make it home safely - sending positive vibes your way. Please keep us updated.

I feel your pain. One of our volunteers lost a foster cat out a window. So many times I have wanted to open the window in the kitten foster room (before they get run of the house), but then I remember her story. It's especially tough when they are ferals...they want out so bad.

Hopefully the almighty can of food will get them back inside to either the have a heart trap or your door.

Can you leave the bathroom window open? at least when you are there? If they came back once to the window they will come back to it again. Cats are very good about that.

I'm so sorry I know how terrible you feel. I would leave the window open and the trap and put a box on the porch or by the door with a blanket so if it does come home it will have a place to sleep. Cats do make their way home and if they were outside cats at least they do have a bit of "street smarts"

I think it is a good sign that they are staying close and didn't take off and not stop. I sincerely hope your babies make it home safe and sound. So Sorry.

Oh that is just heart breaking, I hope Simba & Twiggy find their way home, Leave food out for them. Please keep us posted.

We also have a Simba that was adopted from our work. He was use to being outside and managed to get out but when it got dark, he came back to the front door wanting in. I'm hoping that the same good fortune happens for you.:goodvibes

Twiggy came back this morning about 3:30. She went for the food in the trap and it triggered. She really hates cages of any type and DH heard her in it.

We still have the trap outside with food and water in it, plus an additional food bowl on the patio. We left the bathroom window open all night with the door closed. I have the sliding door open now in case Simba comes back.

DH & I are both really upset about Simba. :sad1: He was originally a foster and grew on us. :lovestruc He is the sweetest little boy. He tells me when to fill the food bowls and will sit next to one water dish if it is empty, until you fill it. He greets me at the door when I come in and waits for me to love on him.

We are going to leave the trap out through the weekend and take pictures of him to the local vets and the shelter. Hopefully if he is picked up, we will hear something.

Good luck! I hope your Simba returns too. Be sure to circle the neighborhood as he may have found a "fur-friend" in the area to visit.

so glad one kitty is back. Keep looking they can wander a bit. was he "fixed" ?
Keep an ear open to tonight because Males get very loud defending their territory from a new male and you might hear the meowerrrry if he has wandered into another males space and be able to follow it.

Yes keep the trap up because what I know of cats they will try to return if at all possible to their home. make sure to leave water out also becasue in the wild that is harder to find than food and they need it more.

Good Luck I'll keep my fingers crossed.

We have both food and water in the trap and I had the sliding glass door open to listen for him today. When DH got home we walked the neighborhood to see if we could see him. Unfortunately there in a large overgrown field behind our house. There is a track that we both walked yesterday and today.

Simba is fixed. He was a stray that used to live at one of the Sonic's in town. Then the Sonic closed and he was still there. He was eventually trapped and we decided to foster him. He grew on both DH & I and we decided to keep him. :lovestruc He was #6 in our family of cats (plus 1 dog). Of all our animals, only 1 was not a rescue.

He is such a sweetie. I always said he was the politest cat we have ever had. It was like he would ask me to go eat. Sometimes I had to walk him to the food bowls.

There is a restaurant close by that has outside seating, so I am going to take one of the flyers to see if they will put it up. We will also be putting an ad in the paper tomorrow.

Thank you for all the prayers.

This is a stretch but have you checked the old Sonic? He may have got mixed up once outside and returned there.

I hope he gets home quickly. glad he is fixed it will help with him going far and wide looking for company for the night.

Did you call the shelters and police today?

Praying for all of you. It is so hard when they get out. Just this past weekend, my kitty got out too, and I was a mess. Then, on Sunday, we asked our neighbor to let the dog out so we could go for the day, and the dog took off on the neighbor. They looked for him for an hour and finally found him, but it was scary!

Good luck!!

Unfortunately the old Sonic is about 15+ miles from our house. We live on one side of the Hathaway Bridge in Panama City and the old Sonic is on the other side of the bridge in Panama City Beach. We will be looking at places similar to Sonic thinking that he would gravitate to those types of places since he lived at one for quite a while.

Here's another update. It is Monday night and we still have not seen Simba. We still have the trap out with food and water, but have not seen any sign of him. My DH said that a possum was trying to eat the food yesterday.

The ad came out in the paper yesterday. Our other little boy, Tinker Boo, is really missing Simba. Dh finally got him to purr today, but just for a minute. We usually never have trouble getting him to purr. He is sleeping on the bed where Simba used to sleep. He hasn't wanted to play either. He is the only one that is really showing signs of missing Simba. Miss Priss was also one of his buddies, but she doesn't seem as affected. The others, Blackie (our old crabby:laughing:), Babbette and Angel did not get as attached to him, mainly because they are older. The other two are closer in age to Simba. Twiggy is just a foster and hasn't gotten close to anyone yet.

DH & I are really missing him. :sad1: Hopefully our ad will get some result.

As some of you know we lost our Simba 3 weeks ago. We just took in a new baby that has had a very difficult life so far. (Still trying to figure out a name for her).

Well today I was sitting outside puffing my ecig and heard a noise that sounded like a cat. At first I thought it was one of the squirrels, then I heard it again and realized it was like Simba's meow. I turned and looked behind me and saw him just leaving our neighbor's patio. I called out his name and he stopped and looked at me. I called him again but didn't move because I didn't want to startle him. I called one more time and he ran into the woods/brush behind the house.

We had just given up hope of him coming home and figured he had found a new home. We had a safe trap out for 2 1/2 weeks and after catching a raccoon Sunday night, decided not to set it anymore. We had caught a possum twice, one cat twice, another cat once and then this raccoon.

Since he is so timid and shy, I didn't go running after him or chase him in the brush. So now there might be some hope of him coming home. We put food out and are going to reset the trap to see if we can get him.

Oh I am so happy for you!!! Cats are miraculous beings and they really do seem to have 9 lives! Never give up hope with a lost cat. See it knows where home is and is in the area. Keep putting out the food and water. possibly something that the other cat it liked has laid on so it picks up the scent.

I also believe in God,Karma, Good deeds whatever. You took in another hurt and homeless kitty out of the goodness of your heart and somebody was looking down and sent your Simba.

I will say a prayer he finds the rest of his way home soon. Yeah :cool1:

Second sighting this evening. We now have the trap back out, plus additional food dishes and water dishes. I also put one of the toys that he liked to play with. My DH's office put together little shelter for the feral cats near their office, so he brought one home. We put it out back to see if we can get him back.

Still hoping.

He might have decided he doesn't want to be and indoor cat. If we find that is the case, we will keep food outside and this shelter out there for him.

So here's the latest on Simba. He is living somewhere in the high brush/woods behind our house and the two neighbor's houses. I was sitting outside reading and he came close to where I was. I talked to him, but he ran off. We have started putting food out on the patio and he has been coming and eating. Two of our other cats know it is him and have been watching him.

We have a feral cat shelter in the backyard for him, but are not sure if he is using it. Today while I was outside, he came and meowed at me, but would not come close to me. He just sat at the edge of the yard and looked at me.

We are glad to know that he is okay, but wish that he would come back inside. :sad1:

I'm glad to hear the news is positive! You are trying and doing the best you can. Hopefully he will get lonely and want some companionship before anything can happen to him. It must be so frustrating to know he is there and see him but not be able to catch him! Hopefully since he is getting food and water and has shelter he will stay put in the area you described and not wander and run the risk of getting hurt by cars, other cats or people. It is a very good sign that he came back and is staying there. He likes it and you.

I'll keep thinking about you and him and hoping you get him inside before long.

Thanks for the update I was wondering about him.
