Hi Folks,

Im heading down to Orlando on Dec 9 and staying at the Doubletree for 2 nights so we can do Seaworld and IOA , then we are heading for our week at WDW at the Poly. What would be my best transport options? I was considering cabbing it to the Doubletree from the airport and then cabbing it to the Poly on Sunday, is that the most sensible cost effective way? I saw another post where someone suggested using a rental car for the first two days to and from the airport and then doing the Magical express for Disney both ways which I hadnt considered? Anyone done this? This is our first time in 7 years weve done something outside WDW! so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If you can find a rental car code that gets you a good deal you could do that. I would also look more closely at dropping at WDW vs. going all the way back to MCO and then waiting for DME and then back to WDW. Just my preference. A car service to Universal area is about $68 plus tip. I imagine a taxi to be roughly half that or so. Fare estimator is broken right now, so I can't be certain (I could be way wrong too).

A car from Universal to Poly is about $52 plus tip. Taxi would be some fraction of that. So a car service would be about $120 plus tip and a taxi falls somewhere below that. If you can get a rental car for less than that then yes, it would be make sense cost wise, but then there is the renting, driving, parking, dropping, lugging/loading of luggage and filling with gas factor and whatever that value is to you.

I just did a quick check on the Dollar site and you could rent a car from MCO Dec. 9 - 11 for less than $75 dollars. You would have to return it to the airport or the fees seem to double.
