Need some suggestions

Every month our family has a "Disney meeting" and at this meeting we discuss our vacation plans from leaving our house to go to the airport, transfer companies, airfare, communication devices, parks, cruise, restaurants, tips - EVERYTHING!!

Well, we are going to be having our second to last meeting at a hall (I get it free with the company I work for) so it is going to be like a big party. My DH and I are planning this secretly so the others don't know about it.

We have about 21 family members that are going to be there.

I am picturing this to be like a "sailaway" party, but definitely on the smaller scale. Do you have any suggestions on how we should decorate?

I have receorded the music "Across the sea..." from the video and I am also going to record the horn and play that as well (my DH and I heard the horn for our honeymoon, but noone else has - it is just so awesome!!)

So please let me know what you think we can do to make this really special.

do bubbles for the sailaway party.

also the drink that was being carried around on the trays was miami vices (virgin or alcholic)

also you could give out lime green ribbons (to signify DIS members? or some other color)

decorate with swimming goggles, beach towels, shells

have you cruised before? If so anything like the soda mugs or the disney drink glasses could be used. Fill with sand and shells?

use any disney items you may have...

I am sure other folks will have some good tips. Also if you could print off info sheets on the ports of call that you have researched on the web.

I could go on and on, but without knowing which itinerary, I will wait to see what else you get.

What a wonderful idea for a sailaway party!! Prymsu's ideas are super. I just had a couple of thoughts:

- Previously on this board, folks have asked for CD recommendations for travel or cruisin music and have gotten lots of great ideas. Here is the only thread I could find doing a search for music. It has some suggestions but you just might start another thread asking for specific CD suggestions.

I did a Survivor party for a friend leaving our office and was able to find lots of inexpensive decorations (leis, streamers, tiki torches and other stuff).............including a 3 foot TIKI pinata at Oriental Trading.

How about going to a quick sign company and have a large poster of the ship made-up / or banner with the ships name..
Magic or Wonder on it.
You or your DH could also stand at the door to the hall and announce the arrival of each person as they enter like they do on the cruise.
Whatever you do it sounds like your group will have a great time !!!

I really like the idea of the Miami Vice drinks - I think that will be a big hit - I just have to get the recipe. I already purchased bubbles for everyone so this should be a blast when we actually get to use them (my 2 1/2 year old DD has already used some of mine because she just loves bubbles)

I am definitely going to do the lime green ribbon thing for my family because I would love to meet and have a quick chat with other Dis members.

I think I will also get some leis for the other family members just to get the tropical theme going and they will probably pack them for the sailaway party anyway.
