We are DVC members, and are going to Disney dec 3-17th.....I keep hearing about everyone else's honeymoon destinations, friends , (mexico, Hawaii, Aruba, St. Lucia), and I start questioning if two weeks at the world is (gasp), is too much?? 13 full days.......Talk me down. :rotfl2: The longest trip was 8 full days, and I remember wanting to stay longer..... And we are staying at three different resorts.....

We had a two week vacation once and it was awesome! After a couple of days you get so relaxed since you know you have all sorts of time to do anything you want.

And to do it when WDW is decorated for Christmas....even better!

I'm not big on splitting stays so the three resort thing wouldn't appeal to us, but since you have a 13 night trip it won't seem like you're resort hopping all that much. And Disney does make it easy to switch resorts.

I think you'll have an unbelievable honeymoon. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and enjoy a relaxing, magical honeymoon.

Plan your honeymoon for YOUR pleasure and who cares what other people think..........If you think 13 days is too much for you, then it is and you should cut a few days off. Personally, I could handle 13 days in WDW.
It's your honeymoon, do want YOU and only YOU (& new spouse) want

The 13 day trip sounds like a heavenly honeymoon! Well, except for the "staying at 3 different resorts" thing! I'd have one ressie at one resort and snuggle in for the duration rather than move around and pack and unpack that much. We usually travel to WDW from 9-12 days, and that would be way too much changing resorts for me.

:cool1: For Mexico I would get a Margarita in Epcot at where else, Mexico. Need a taste of Hawaii, have dinner at the Poly. For the Carribean, just do POTC or relax by the pool with an umbrella drink. We keep going back to WDW becasue it has everything and every place wrapped up in a bow. Congrats!!

We will be there at that time also 12/01-12/10. My first trip ever to WDW was our 8th anniversary in 2002. It is our Honeymoon spot since we didn't have one after the wedding.

Sounds awesome and similar to what we did. We did a 4 night DCL cruise and then 10 days at Disney staying at Port Orleans Riverside. I defiantly did not want anything else and looking back it is still what I wanted. I had always wanted a Disney Honeymoon. When we were dating and talking about marriage (we dated a month and got marrried 5 months later) I told him that I wanted to go to Disney for our Honeymoon and we have been going back ever since and now we are DVC members and live in north florida...can't get any better.

:cool

Oh congrats! Wherre are you staying?

I've given extended DVC trips to WDW as wedding/honeymoon gifts. Never heard a complaint.

CONGRATULATION!
DH and I are always saying we wish we Honeymooned at Disney!
We could have gone for two weeks and bought a DVC for what we spent on our Hawaii Trip.:upsidedow
Disney is definitely OUR Happy Place!

If that's where you want to go, forget about what everyone else is saying. The honeymoon is for you and your spouse. Relax and enjoy it.

We went to Disney for our honeymoon, despite having been there many times before. We debated going other places (actually all the ones you mentioned!), but decided we wanted to go somewhere where we KNEW we'd have a fabulous time. We went for 8 days and I wished we stayed longer. For our wedding, we didn't register for gifts and instead asked for money for the trip, so we did a bunch of things we didn't usually do - such as eat at restaurants we normally do not becuase of the cost, buy all of the ride photos we normally do not, and had cocktails at PI (so upset it's gone!). Have a great wedding and a great honeymoon!!

If WDW is where you want to go, don't worry about what other people do.

Most people I knew who married when I was engaged and newlywed did the St Lucia etc etc thing...and their pictures are lovely! But their trips were rather short b/c of the total cost. But you get to stay nearly 2 weeks, which means you'll come back VERY relaxed.

I do have one friend who went to WDW for her honeymoon. They had a blast! And their photographer was a Disney fan, and threw in an extra hour to follow them to the airport to keep taking pictures, because they were taking a redeye from NJ and were going straight from their reception. How cool is that? Wouldn't have happened if they had gone to Hawaii. :)

We did an Alaskan cruise on a budget, and that's definitely not what our friends did or would do, but it worked for us! We also had the week between wedding and cruise to hang out at home, do all the paperwork (we dropped off our marriage license at the registrar's and left with official certificates in hand, we opened joint accounts, etc), and we found that that was just as romantic as the honeymoon itself! And no one who hasn't done that doesn't understand that at all. But it worked for us!

WDW is a fantastic place to Honeymoon. We sort of did ours there, a year later and that's when we purchased DVC. I can't imagine being anywhere else and DH loves the place too. You can sort of pretend to be in so many places while you're there. Remember that most non fans forget the extras like boating, surrey bikes, the beaches, the areophile balloon, the drinks you can get if you choose to in every place but MK, the relaxation that can be found when you just enjoy and don't rush, the pure happiness of just taking in all the creativity of the place.... and while you're there, get a special cake made for the occasion. It's tradition for us! You'll have a wonderful time, and I really bet that the people questioning your choice aren't looking past the parks and really don't know just how amazing and fun and even romantic WDW is!

:goodvibesThanks everyone! I feel better already

I will be Honeymooning with you in Disney... the 10-17th... First time in December, and we couldn't be more excited. Who cares what anyone else says. It is my happy place. I could go 1,2 weeks or a month and still feel the same. Enjoy, relax enjoy each other, you will have a great time.

Thank you!!! You too
Where will you be staying?

Oh sweetie... you'll have a BLAST!
We got married and had our HM at Disney. We stayed there for a total of 11 nights including before and after the wedding. I wanted a longer stay! :lmao:
Well, I had an excuse tho... I got dog sick right after the wedding so our HM was a bust... but that's ok because we had a second HM in Europe after that.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is, you'll have a magical HM
AND... don't get so stressed about the wedding that you'll get sick. Try to enjoy your special day :)
