need some pricing suggestions for American Girl Doll Stuff // Page 2 - more Pics

well the one I cleaned looked like the rest of them and most all the marks came off. I figured they started out free, so even if I sold them cheaper and the clothes, then I would still make money off of them.

And no, I didn't know they still said Pleasant company on them at all.

Looking at the pics I have to wonder, what happened to them? Looks like an animal got to them and bleach or something :confused3
Seeing that their stuffing is coming out maybe I would send them to the doll hospital or post them on agplaythings and see if they could help you with repair.

What I think happened to the lot is that someone put them away because they didn't play with them anymore and mice got into them. So they threw away th whole box of stuff.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe squirrels in the attack or something after they were packed away.

But like you said, they were free and some people will buy them an fix them up I am sure if you decide not to do the doll hospital. Some people even make their own "custom dolls" (take the wig off, put a new wig on), its really amazing what people at agplaythings make.

Let us know how it goes.

O and I agree with a PP, list everything separately, not as a lot.

They do--we were really surprised when one of DD's dolls came wit the Pleasant Company mark jsut a couple of years ago (I can't recall which doll it is now and I am not about to risk waking her to go check;))

I can't believe they threw that stuff away either. You can bet our neighbor's trash never looked that good! :rotfl2:

SaraJayne -- As a power seller with the extra top-rated status that puts my auctions closer to the top in searches and a collector, I have to say - no disrespect intended - NO WAY, NO HOW - especially recently.

:surfweb: Lindsey's prices have taken a sharp nosedive and she is routinely found on ebay these days for $75 and under. In fact, there was just a buy-it-now I looked at this morning for $75, and another lot with her entire collection that ended under $125 the other day. Even a new Lindsey, mint in box, can be bought right now for $250-$350.

I'm fixing several dolls up for girls who wouldn't get one otherwise. If you can get $700 for a Lindsey in today's market, I'd be happy to give you mine to sell and use the $$ to buy these young ladies brand new dolls for Christmas.
Sadly though, the days of those kinds of ebay profits are long gone. None of the collectors I know are getting decent prices for Lindsey or Marisol in today's market. Poor Marisol is even less valuable, probably b/c AG has introduced not one, but two, new JLY dolls that differ only slightly from her - the main differences being only the hair style/length.

I guess it's been a while since I looked at ebay. Last time I checked, she was selling for that much.

And I have no intention of selling her...she's been sitting on my bed all these years and I just recently passed her down to my DD to add to her AG collection. :)

Absolutely Perfect! and that makes her truly priceless! Here's hoping she's thoroughly enjoyed for generations to come! :lovestruc

I washed up Felicity's hair and limbs. She doesn't look bad at all, aside from needing anew torso that is.

Oh those poor baby dolls!

Good luck listing those. I would defer to DanceMom03's advice. She is THE AG ebay expert (and a sweetheart too!). :thumbsup2

The before pics look like the dolls have mold on them. I know you have been able to clean off the markings, but mold tends to re-grow. I hope your listing indicates how you came to have these. I wouldn't want them for my daughter, knowing what condition they were in and the fact that you took them from someone's trash.

Honestly, this thread has made me completely re-think purchsing items from strangers over the internet. I won't be doing it again.

I took them from a large bin containing only American girl dolls, clothes, and accessories. there was nothing else in the bin besides stuffing. they were not in with food or anything else. There was no mold, only large spots of rust from the metal bunk beds that were in the bin with them. And of course, some rodent poo (I assume) spots, but anyone who has had mice in their attic knows that it can happen to the best of us. I will be suggesting that whoever buys them send them to AG to get a new torso and when they do, AG will clean their bodies again.

As far as buying from strangers over the internet, that means stores too. You think that their items do not have rodent poo in and on them at some point in their lives.

You did a good job cleaning up their skin, but unfortunetly those bodies make them a total loss. Do they smell?- because the torsos really look putrid.

Sometimes things are in the trash for a reason.

Honestly, I can't imagine anyone buying those dolls in the shape they are in even after the cleaning.

I would take them to the American Girl doll hospital to see what they could do with them before trying to sell them.

First---well I believe in well played with toys, that is what they are for---these dolls were abused, these are expensive dolls--I know we have most of them, doesn't anyone say to their kids play nice

Ok, so about your dolls You can't sell them, they are really a mess Why not since you cleaned them up you bring them to a shelter, or a church You did find them anyway, would be a good way to pass it on

Honestly after seeing the pictures, I would not try to sell them. The after pictures of the dolls still have marks on them and the duct tape does not look good at all. Most of the clothes in your link are marked in some way and others are unsellable. Maybe have a garage sale?

This would be an awful thing to do to a child living in a shelter.

Here is a filthy Garbage Doll for you, little homeless girl. It is all that you deserve:sad2:

Im thinking my kids really take good care of their stuff :lmao: I'm not convinced they are in sellable condition even after the cleaning :confused3
