:wave2: Hi Buds!

We'll be making the big trip South for our move to Florida in about 8 weeks. I really want to take a few of my plants with me, all daylillies. I have 8 miniature lillies, and one giant monster lilly that I can break up into about 10 small plants.

What would be the best way to get them there alive? It will be about a 2 day drive and we will be moving ourselves. I was thinking maybe one of those cheap-y kiddy pools and planting the lillies in there temporarily, or individually potting the plants. Do you think they will make it OK if I chop down the foliage and make sure they stay moist?

Any help you could pass along would be greatly appreciated by me and my lillies! TIA!

Hi Sorcerormickey!

You must be getting very excited about your move!! How close will your new house be, to the house of the main mouse? :earsgirl: :D

I've never had to move (not that far anyway!) any daylilies, Sorcerormickey, but I think cutting back some of the foliage (to put less stress on the plant), potting them, and keeping them moist, should work fine. Sounds like you've got that covered! :) The kiddy pool idea is very clever, but do you have enough room for that? Individual pots, maybe even buckets, would probably work too.

You've probably already check it out, but I added a link with specific info on growing daylilies in Florida. Hope it's of some help to you! :)

Any other suggestions for Sorcerormickey, Buds? Anyone.. out ..there??? :)

I think you've covered it pretty well Kim. I think I would cut the foliage back probably 1/2 to 2/3 and pot them up individually. I think they will move just fine.

Thanks, Buds!:sunny: :sunny: Individual pots sounds like the way to go. Since it's only a 2 day trip, I think their stress won't be too terrible, but I'm sure they will still be unhappy!

Excited is not exactly the word I would use...terrified is more like it, LOL!:teeth: WDW will be about 20 minutes away with a nice, scenic drive thru cow fields.:hyper: :hyper:

Thanks again! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Terrified, with WDW only 20 mins. away? Sounds great to me!!! ::yes:: :sunny:

From Michigan to Florida is a big move...:)

Just popping in here to wish you all the best of luck on your move to your new home. I would think moving from Michigan to Florida could be a little bit daunting but I'm certain everything will work out for the best!
