Ok everyone we have talked about this back in March so now I need to start getting some dates for early June for the London BBQ outdoor DIS meet.
First Saturday in June or Second Saturday in June what is better for everyone. We will be going to the West Lions Park just off Wharncliffe Rd. The park has pic nic tables baseball diamonds and a nice splash park for the kids. We now need to knwo what would be the best day for everyone.
I will be bringing a small travel propane BBQ to cook on so we can make it sort of like a pot luck
I will bring Burgers and dogs who wants to make desserts and so on. Let us know.
Thanks Darren & Lisa and the kids ºoº

June 13th is out for us. And of course the 26th!

Any other time will be fine with us!

Ok so June 5th 6th or 12th.

The 6th won't work for us - our church is holding their annual chicken BBQ in Poplar Hill. Actually, DS has a soccer tournament in Strathroy that weekend, but we could work around the schedule if it was on the Saturday. At this point I think the second weekend is fine with us.

P.S. For those of you with pre- and early-teens, there is also a relatively new (but small) skateboard park there as well.

Either Saturday works for me as my Dh and DS are busy both those Saturdays but DD and I will be there.

PS I saw this post after I answered your new job post.

So lets say the 12th then and we will go from there. Who wants to bring what or would you rather just bring stuff your individual families?

June 12th sounds good. I think it would be easier to bring our own food, although people can certainly share. But it doesn't matter.

Where exactly is this park? Wharncliffe and what?

Barrington Ave, between Oxford & Riverside, right behind Kinsmen Arena.

Thanks Mike for the street names this will help everyone out. Wayne you may be right about everyone bringing their own stuff it may be easier that way any people that may have certain foods they need to or want to eat can have them. I am still bringing the BBQ for anyone that may need it.

Darren - good news about your job although I'll miss seeing you at BB. (by the way, brother and sister-in-law checked into the "wonderful BW Villas" yesterday)

I just think coordinating who brings the salads and who brings the drinks would be a bigger nightmare than Mickey has in Fantasia. Especially since people have allergy needs, and low-carb needs and the like. But the BBQ sounds great.

It's just south of the soon-to-be-former Empress Public School, but on the other side of Wharncliffe. Just follow the old PUC signs to Kinsmen Arena and West Lions Park and you'll find it.

Is that beside the old St. Joe's school, new home of the Christian Academy of Western Ontario??

Thanks Wayne so did your brother e mail you from BWV or not and if so how does he like it and did he have any problems. I am sure it was just fine and they should like the view they have a garden room pool view. You are right about the salads etc it could get a little tough.

Can someone provide an exact address so that I can put into mapquest!LOL

Thanks

The address of the arena is 20 Granville Ave, London. The park is immediately beside and behind the arena. However, Mapquest doesn't seem to like that address, so enter 13 Granville St instead. It'll take you across the street but I suspect you're sharp enough to figure that out.

If he'd had problems I'm sure I would have heard about it in his email!

With Disney fans, never assume. Didn't you hear the story about the people who spent the entire day in Tomorrowland thinking that was the extent of the park? :jester:

I just know I'm going to get flamed for his, but it's waaay too tempting.... :p

I'm sure they were American. Many of them have a rather myopic world view when it comes to geography anyway. Like when I was living in Baltimore back in the mid-80s (I still had my Saskatchewan plates on the car) and I had a local ask me where Saskatchewan was. After I told him, his reply was "Oh ya, that's up near Pittsburgh."

The prosecution rests. :duck:

Mike,

That reminds me of the time I was visiting my Ma in Florida and I met a 12 year old boy from Pennsylvania. He didn't know where Lake Erie was located. Perhaps it's near Erie, Pennsylvania son.

I still remember my grade 8 geography teacher who constantly drilled us in different provinces, etc. Thanks to him I'm a star in Trivial Pursuit.
