We have two contracts one 70 points other 30 points at Wilderness Lodge. Both contracts paid for and we bought them through DVC. It was my dream to have DVC and when we bought them 6 plus years ago I couldn't believe we finally had them. But we want to travel to other places besides Disney. Heck this is first year we didn't renew our passes in 10 years cause our priorities have changed. Still love Disney but the magic is fading for us. Anyway. Who do you recommend to resell our points through? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

We used Time Share Store last year. Our 150 Wilderness Lodge points sold in about a month for a couple of points below our asking price, but still
$10 more per point than we paid 12 years earlier.

I think that the Timeshare Store, Fidelity and rResale DVC are the names I have seen being thrown about the most from people who are buying.

IF that's all you have you might rent a couple of times and do some other things then make a final decision later. It won't really cost you anything, you'll even make some depending on how you view it. I know a lot of people who take time off but miss it later and end up back including some that sell and buy back in. If you had a boatload of points it might be reasonable to downsize, that was our plan since we rarely use our points but rather exchange in through RCI.

Well that is another option I suppose. It is a hassle to rent out points? Never rented nor rented out points. What if the person you rent the points to does damage to the room would we be liable?

I have bought all but one of my resale contracts thru TimeShare Stores - I always check their site first when I'm in the market to buy.

I have had nothing but excellent service from the Timeshare Store. I think you 2 small contacts would sell very quickly at a premium due to their size.

Dean gave good advice. Renting out your points would cover your dues and such, and maybe in a few years you will change your mind. But....sellers are getting good prices on small contracts. And will prices go higher, stabilize or drop in the coming years? Who knows? Or you could look into what Dean also mentions....RCI. I don't have a clue how that works....haven't had the desire to not go to Disney yet (after 20 years!).

That being said, we have used the TimeShare Store on a number of occasions (buy and sell). They were easy to work with and always kept us apprised as to what was going on. Recently worked with DVCresalemarket...they were okay...the girls that handle closing are outstanding.

It gives you future choices. If you sell and decide you want to buy again later because you miss it, you'd give up roughly $2000 plus the retail perks option if you went resale. While I think it's questionable whether smaller contracts will remain at a premium long term, it's likely they will short term. If you rent through a broker for 2-3 years then sell at that time, you'll almost certainly end up better than selling now. And since stripped contracts don't sell for the discount they should, if you rented all the points you could then sold them stripped, you'd almost certainly end up ahead as well.

Thanks for all the advice. Think we will hang on and possibly rent out our points maybe starting next year. We plan on using them for vacation in Jan so probably best to hang on to them. Hubby really doesn't want to sell them but then he was telling me about the dues possibly going up due to something with Orange County. Wasn't too clear on it but anyway we will stick it out for now. Thanks again!

I am with the others. Getting back in later with resale will lose your perks and member status. In a few years, direct will easily be $200 a point so your 100 points is now going to cost 20k to just get back in. Hold, rent with David's or others and see. Have you also thought about Aulani?

That is the property tax issue where the assessments seem poised to rise more than usual.
