Need some ebay advice here

I ordered something off of ebay around 9am on the 28th of June.

The person I did a "buy it now" from was not the cheapest option, but his listing said numerous times in bold letters, "WE SHIP WITHIN 24 HOURS!" and I needed it ASAP so I chose him. I paid immediately after confirming my bid.

Last night, on the 6th of July, I get an email from him saying he had just shipped my package that afternoon! That is a full 8 DAYS after I won and paid for the item. No apology or explanation or anything.

I would have chosen a less expensive option had I known he would not honor his promise.

What would you do?

I would start by emailing the seller and explaining that you are unhappy with the time it took to ship the item. See if he offers any sort of refund or something else to appease you. If not, go ahead and file a complaint with ebay. He made a promise as a seller and should have followed through. As a last resort, leave appropriate feedback.

This happened to me not too long ago. It was very upsetting (I also paid a bit more to get what I wanted shipped when I wanted). I ended up just trying to ignore the fact that it happened. Not the best idea but I assumed nothing good would come of it.

Make sure you leave feedback. That's a big part of how ebay works. If they stated "24 hours" and had no communication otherwise ask for some type of refund first, and if you get no where you can lodge a complaint with ebay. You paid a premium and didn't get what you paid for plain and simple.
