We have 5 ppl total planning to go to Disney in Feb so my DD16 & I can do the GSC ( & hopefully go on to get our C2C at DL1/2 later! - IF I actually survive the GSC!)
Here is the problem - we can get 1 room at CR or POLY (we are all fine space wise with this option) for the first 4 nites for not a lot more than paying for two rooms at either POP or ASMU - but bcuz of our itinerary and not doing a lot of park days the convenience really ends after the fourth night I think??? But I don't want to be "penny wise & pound foolish" either - here is our tentative itinerary - THOUGHTS PLEASE?????

Thurs = Arrival / 1/2 Day Epcot
Fri = Expo & Explore
Sat = 10K & Rest / Resort Lunch
Sun = PHM & Resort Lunch
Mon = MK > Move to POP
Tues = REST DAY / DDD?
Wed = My Birthday! Eat @ GF
Thurs = Universal
Fri =DDD/ ? & Late Flight Home

I would LOVE your expert advise!!

your plan sounds good me to- was going to suggest POR or Ft Wilderness cabins for your party size if you don't want to switch rooms, but then again you could stay at POP the whole time too n that doesn't sound like what you want. You will enjoy being on the monorail for
4 nights, Have a good trip.

Thanks singinglizzie! I believe our kids are too big for the rooms at POR (isn't 5 bed a kids size trundle?) - our kids are 16, 17 & 17 - our first look at FW prices seemed almost the cost of CR/POLY so we kinda took them off the "list" as they say-
Anyone else have any thoughts PLEASE!!

Have you thought about staying at the Beach club or Yacht Club instead of the CR or Poly? The rooms fit five people, we've gone with our family of five when they were teenagers and there was plenty of room. You would be able to walk into Epcot. And if the weather cooperates you would be able to enjoy the best pool at WDW. :)

We stopped going to regular rooms when all four of us go. Dd18 and ds 16 now but even years ago would not sleep together.

We like the BLT 1 bdrm villa. It usually prices out close to Poly/GF/CR room rate.

To save money rent points to do it. There are many links on how to do it.

We always paid cash but I am going to try to rent points for our next trip.

What I like most about BLT is 2 full bathrooms. Also the twin bed is big enough for ds at 5'11". I have slept on the queen sleeper and comfortable too. The views from any room are good and location to MK is great.

The details in BLT have to be seen to be appreciated. The talking elevators for example are Disney fun!:goodvibes

Your plan looks good. Another vote for staying at CR the whole trip, if you don't mind the 5 people in the room. POP is great (we'll be staying there next Jan!), but even with the "extra space" of another room you could feel like you're "downgrading" after staying on the Monorail line.

Looks like you're an expert planner yourself!:thumbsup2

Wood Nymph - I never thought about either the BC or YC - never knew you could walk to Epcot
From there...can we get to the race (GSC) on race mornings? Are they mods or deluxe resorts? I'd love to hear more!!! Thanks!!

Is this difficult to do? How much of a savings can you realize from doing this? Can you do it for everywhere? BLT ( is that Bay Lake Towers? Part of CR?)
Sorry for all the newbie questions, I very much appreciate all your advice and help!! Jean

I am a newbie too with renting points. I have stayed at disney 40+ times but never rented points. I am currently researching it but it seems you really have to plan ahead for it to work. I usually do last minute trips so... Not so good.
Also look at davids dvc to see prices. My resorts usually about 40% less than disney cash price.
However I have found lots of disers ready to answer q's so ask if needed but research first.

I would stay at either Poly or CR. they have the largest rooms of all the resorts.
Beach & Yacht club are deluxe too, with 2 queens & day bed, great resort but rooms are a bit smaller then Poly or CR.

You might want to check out the Beach Club information thread to find out more about it:

There is an exit between France and England in the World Showcase in Epcot, called the International Gateway, that exits to a resort area. There are five resorts here, Beach club, Yacht Club, Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin, At the other end of the lake that these resorts are on is Hollywood Studios. You can walk or take a boat to both of these parks from these five resorts.

I'm not sure what time your race/races start, but if it is early in the morning, then there will be a bus that will pick up the racers at their resorts and take them to the race start. You'll have to make sure to stay at one of the resorts that will have this pick up service. Good luck!
