Need shopping help from dissers in New England

Hoping my dis friends can help me out with a place to stop for shopping on our way home from PEI this summer. We have one day to spend someplace along the way for back to school shopping. I have a 12 (boy) & 14 (girl) year old and will be traveling with another family. We will be driving through Maine, New Hampshire, Massachtues and New York. We will be travelling the I-90 & I-95. I don't mind going a little bit off the track to get to a good shopping. It would be an added bonus if there was something for the boys to do at the same time.

So where is the best place for outlet/back to school shopping in New England.

Freeport Maine is the home of LL Bean plus tons of other outlet stores. It's a cute town as well. There are also tons of outlets in Kittery Maine.

North Conway, NH also has outlets.

I agree with the above posters. Freeport, Kittery, North Conway are great. North Conway in New Hampshire is my favorite because New Hampshire does not have sales tax. North Conway is not that close to I95 though. (We just came back from N. Conway a couple of hours ago.) Kittery is right next to 95. Lots of outlets. There is a sales tax in Maine. Enjoy your vacation.

Thanks, I also had it narrowed down to Freeport or North Conway. Is it worth it going to North Conway for the no sales tax?

We just got back from No.Conway yesterday (we go every summer for a little get-a-away) and my girls (13 & 17) were a little disappointed in the shopping. Not too many stores in the outlets there & we are truly "spoiled" by the Outlets right near our home. No. Conway's main shopping outlet is in Settlers Green (if you go online you can see which stores they have). Now, if you want some great Outlet shopping, I would highly recommend "Wrentham Village Premium Outlets" in Wrentham, Mass. While it's not right off I95, it is off I-495 which is a short distance from I-95. Here, you'll find every store a teen likes to shop, ie: American Eagle, Aeropostale, Gap and so much more...they now have a Vera Bradley outlet too. It's really a great shopping spot and is located right off the highway for easy access... check it out online.

I agree. Plus, there is no sales tax on clothing in MA (except on single items that are priced over $175 - which I cannot imagine you'd need to worry about for back to school shopping), so you don't have to worry about that in Wrentham, either.

In Ct right off I95 we have outlet shopping in Clinton & Westbrook. Nice stores, but everything is now taxed. Keep going north.

The Outlets in Lee, MA are great. They are right off the Mass Pike. Lots of great stores for back to school shopping. American Eagle, Pac Sun, Areopostle, Nike, Under Armour....just to name a few!

Good suggestion - but Lee seems pretty far out of the way based on the OP's plans.

Either Freeport or Wrentham would be good - and as stated above, no sales tax on most clothes here!

Another vote for Wrentham! If you are an llBean fan, go south a few exits to route 140 Mansfield and there is a LLBean store. Not as big as the flagship store, but I have gotten some good clearance deals. When you leave, rt 95 is one exit away.

Wow, thanks everyone Wrentham is on my list know. I didn't know MA didn't charge taxes on clothes. That is great news.

How old are they? If they are old enough and they like football, Foxboro isn't that far away and you could drop them off at Patriot Place. Nice places to eat/shop and look at there.

Never mind. Re-read your post. I wouldn't leave a 12 yr old somewhere! But it might be a nice stop for all of you, just the same. Bribe the boy that he gets to see the Patriot Hall of Fame if he puts up with the shopping!

My choice as well. In fact, I actually need to trek on down there myself pretty soon. My girlfriend pretty much lives there as far as I can tell!!! Wrentham Village is wonderful.

ABSOLUTELY Wrentham is the best. It also has a Vera Bradley outlet one only a hand full in the country. If you are going to Wrentham go on line and join the VIP club they give you coupons for better discounts. When you get to Wrentham (if you go) go to the mall office next to the food court and get a discount coupon folder which gives you even MORE discounts.
