There are no car rental agencies in the cruise terminal although there are some nearby. You will want to have your arrangements made ahead of time since there are not counters at the cruise terminal that you can just walk up to.

Do the different car rentals have shuttles to take you to pick the cars up.
Avis, Budget, and Hertz have shuttles.

We will need to return to MCO on Sunday night...can we take the car back to the rental agency at Cape Canaveral and have them shuttle us to MCO?
No. Cape Canaveral is 47 miles from MCO. There are no companies that offer courtesy shuttles between Cape Canaveral and MCO.

You can, however, rent a car from Cape Canaveral and return it to MCO as if it were a local rental. I have more details about this option at my web site...

So Dave, tell me if this is right...I need to go ahead and call and get me a car rented now and then take that shuttle from whoever I reserved with when I get off the ship and then return back to MCO on Sunday???....god, I am scared to death that I will never find my way around that airport...I am used to a little airport in a little town in NC and not a big ole city airport...any pointers for me there?...thanks

Yes, you have it right.

Don't stress too much about MCO. Although it is bigger than your small-town airport, it is a large enough property that the roadways are well laid-out and well-marked.

I have directions from MCO to the port at my web site.

Just reverse them to get back to MCO. I also have a decent map of the Central Florida area and a link to a map of the MCO property. Taking a look at them before you go will probably help you relax a bit.

OK Dave...this is the last time I will bother you...I think I have decided to go with HERTZ...do they have a shuttle that will pick us up from the ship?...and then from what I was reading on your site...are you saying they do not have a drop-off location at the airport but rather off site and they shuttle you to the airport?...I think that would be better myself because they could drop me right off at the airport and I would not have to worry with all the hustle and bustle...thanks again

Hertz does not have a location at the Port. Avis does but it's at the Radisson, not the port but there is a shuttle from the Radisson to the port.

My question is: why don't you just use the DCL buses? They are very reliable, not too costly and more importantly (perhaps for you) is that you don't have to worry about anything, i.e. schlepping, etc.

Good luck but if you still do rent, go with Avis..

I am needing a rental car because I am not going to fly out of Orlando until Sunday and going to visit my parents in Naples when I get off the ship

Hertz is located a couple miles away from the port, but they do have a courtesy shuttle. (Incidentally, they're closer to the port than they used to be... they recently moved to a new site in Cocoa Beach.)

As for their off-airport location, it's located on SR-436/Semoran Blvd, north of the airport. If you don't mind having to take a shuttle bus from their location to the airport, you'd probably find this to be easier than driving on the airport property.
