Need Remedy For A Sore Throat

I'm a baby when I get a sore throat. I'm at work it the pain is getting worse. Any ideas how to soothe it? Did the warm salt water gargle thing this morning...only helped for a few minutes.

I would get a strep test, actually.

I have found that hot tea with honey helps me. It seems to help for about an hour or so. Give it a try.

Taking 2-3 Ibuprofen every 5 hours seems to help me the most. Takes the edge off. None of the home remedies seem to work more than a few minutes.

I got a sore throat too. I woke up Saturday morning with this and it still feels the same way it did Sat. I notice this morning, I am loosing my voice. This is the first time I have been sick in summer and it stinks.

Dh and I were on vacation last week. He came down with a cold on Thursday and sure enough, I started yesterday as soon as we got home. I never get strep throat. I have asthma so colds either settle near my throat or chest. I just took 2 ibuprofen and will keep taking them every few hours.

OhMari, hope you feel better soon. My dh still feels lousy and we are both dragging our butts at work. So much for a restful vacation!

No but my nephew swears by it. I guess it's off to the drugstore after work to get some. How bad does it taste? My gag reflex is right up there right now. Sorry if that's tmi but I won't be able to drink it if it's gross.

My son was diagnosed with strep on Wednesday and I went and had a culture Saturday, it was negative. They grew it and I called for the results today- still negative. I would have bet you a weeks paycheck (my husband's check even!) that I had strep too. I'm miserable. Sore throat, headache, swollen glands that hurt to the touch, my neck is stiff. They said, "probably a virus" I hate that answer.

Sounds like what dh has and where I'm heading. Hope you feel better. I haven't been sick in about 6 months so I guess I'm fortunate. I get nervous though because it seems my asthma gets 10x's worse whenever I get a cold. I got bronchitis last year and I thought I was gonna die. Hopefully, this will just run its course and go away.

I had a sore throat all last week... I'm a baby, too, about them! So uncomfortable! I didn't go get a strep test because I could tell it was some kind of respiratory thing/chest cold/laryngitis. I was very hoarse and coughing a lot, too.

What helped for me: lots of advil, cough drops, and drinks! (warm drinks and lots of water). Also, ahem, a shot of whiskey with honey helped right before bed.

It's actually not that bad. Drink it down fast and there's not really any icky aftertaste. I recommend the pink grapefruit if you like grapefruit. It's the best tasting one hands down!

Keep taking it, too, even if you do progress and get sick, because it will make the sickness shorter...oh, and load up on the vitamin C too...
