We are trying to plan our trip for this summer and we’ve been many times and eaten at all the popular restaurants. With the new system, I understand some dining reservations are harder to get now. So we are being realistic and trying find new options. What are your favorite “off the beaten path” restaurants that we should consider! Our family likes all kinds of food so we are open to any suggestions :)

Kimonos at Swan for Sushi. Standard nigiri at pretty standard prices, and the quality is there. There's plenty of overpriced hipster rolls, but you can have a decent meal there for not much more than you'd pay at home at your neighborhood sushi joint, and it's a 10 min walk from the International Gateway, 15 minute walk from Hollyweird, or you can take the Friendship boats, too.

Ale & Compass has outstanding breakfast and dinner menus. They were both favorite meals of our entire trip. (Plus, for even more convenience when you don't want to have to pre-plan every minute of your trip, they also offer walk-up dinner seating with a full menu at the A&C lounge and mobile ordering for breakfast and dinner.)
ETA: Olivia's at OKW also has great breakfast, lunch, & dinner options.

How off?

I think we’re thinking of mostly staying on property but we’ll have our car and if you have a really good suggestion off property...we’ll definitely consider it! 😉
Red Lobster? Jk.
Ale and Compass has a great breakfast that is lesser known. And a great dinner which is better known but off the path.

Well AKL Kidani is a bit off the beaten path so I’d highly recommend Sanaa. Great food and get a window seat for savanna views. I’d also suggest P & Js at Ft Wilderness. It’s some good BBQ.

We recently discovered the breakfast at Tratoria al Forno was really good. The Wave is also one of our favorites.

The Wave became our new favorite last year. Also, Il Mulino in the swan is fantastic Italian.

I agree, we have been going for over 10 years and just recently tried II Mulino at the Swan for thanksgiving night, only because I couldn’t get a reservation anywhere else. the boat ride from Hollywood studios to their dock was easy. We had veal parmigiana, seafood pasta, kids had adult spaghetti and meatballs, and one had the traditional turkey dinner. All entree’s were delicious and yes, a step above your regular Italian restaurant. Pricy, but worth it and could even share some dishes.

The Wave became a favorite many years back, quick walk from Magic kingdom at the end of the night for a late dinner or boat ride from Wilderness Lodge . I love , love, love their scalloped potato side dish, melts in your mouth. the steaks are great, salmon is usually good too and the crabcake appetizers are wonderful. Nice variety on menu for all different food types. Decor is so so, usually a quieter place if you can get a large booth that holds 6 +

Sanaa. It’s out of the way at Kidani but it’s well worth it.

We discovered Il Mulino a few years ago and have visited most every trip since. Its nice because you can finish up dinner and stroll over to Epcot.
